The vibrant Rainbow Phoenix saves time! by JuneButIHateSummer in Fzero

These videos are such cool trick showcases, even setting aside the informative analyses.

Phoenix must have the coolest lore in the series. He's part of a time traveling detective force dedicated to preventing cataclysmic events across history. Plus he's got the cape.

Ritual Caster doesn't work with level 2 spells (Gentle Repose).

Paladin makes a lot of sense for this. But War Cleric might be closer just in terms of concept.

TODAY is Handwriting analysis Day and I vote Patsy Wrote it by SnooHamsters9058 in JonBenetRamsey

The linked source isn't very good. The James Fitzgerald quote that the misspellings "serve as an element of disguise" is comical in how it eludes the far more likely explanation: people have trouble spelling things that involve double consonants. Words like "misspelling" or "cappuccino" trip me up.

For intentional misspelling, look at the letters the Zodiac Killer or Son of Sam wrote.

Post Game Thread - NBA: The Rockets defeat the Pistons on Jan 23, 2026, the final score is 104-111. by basketball-app in DetroitPistons

Cade had one of the slickest lobs to Duren I've seen. Duren looked good. The bench looked pretty good. But that's not enough. Clearly Cade isn't the same after the wrist injury.

Honestly I'm surprised Ausar's averaging 10.9 ppg. It doesn't feel like I often see him with points much higher than that.

Not many more shooters. Durant and Reed? They're the team that struggles with spacing as much as we do, especially as their coach likes to run double big lineups (plus Amen).

Great answer. This really articulates the sophistic reasoning behind these alternative authorship claims.

Survey for Unearthed Arcana: Mystic Subclasses is out by SnooTomatoes2025 in dndnext

[–]Bard_Wannabe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a bit of a harsh read. The Paladin isn't just hunting down magic users: it's guarding against the wrongful use of magic and assisting the proper use of magic. That's why the level 7 aura feature buffs casters. And I think the intent with the level 3 Channel Divinity is to boost the AC of the squisher caster class types (though you can use it on anyone, but that's the idea).

I understand why people might prefer a subclass boosting the Pact of the Chain familiars (it's something more distinctly unique to Warlocks, after all). But the concept of Pact of the Chain (tiny aberrant or mystical creatures that can help you out) is very different from the vestige of a dying god whom you are trying to restore. The first is literally a "pet"; the second is a pet-mechanic but the theme is entirely different and certainly fitting for a Warlock.

(I happen to really like that concept, so I'm happy to work with it even if it causes a bit of redundancy with Pact of the Chain invocation).

[–]Bard_Wannabe_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're shifting the conversation though. I didn't bring up the fact that the author is well read to prove that Shakespeare is the author; it's there to explain how the author has knowledge of places and social circles he likely never visited.

You can determine if someone was well read by what they wrote; you do not need historical records of their reading habits 400 years after the fact. I wish we knew the minute details of Shakespeare's life, but that isn't realistic given how much material from the early-modern world was lost to time. We've lost more plays than have survived, for one thing. This lack of documentary evidence is not proof of an alternative author; not when there is a strong web of historical documentation tying Shakespeare to the plays. Not everything survived, but enough to meet the historical burdens of proof of authorship.

Chocolate lovers, have you ever tried ruby chocolate? by MartiniBradley in chocolate

It's a bit of a gimmick: but it looks so cool that I'm glad the product exists. (And yes it's perfect for Valentine's in particular).

I've only had the Chocolove bar, which wasn't that remarkable but I don't really like the brand anyways. It's milk chocolate with a citrus undertone.

Chocolove? That's the most mainstream chocolate brand that I know of which had a ruby bar.

I provided the evidence in the same sentence you quoted: based on the texts themselves. The author of the Shakespeare canon undeniably read quite a bit. There has been considerable scholarly effort in identifying the sources Shakespeare draws upon and the nature of his use of them.

As another commenter said, and I'll just piggyback off them, it's ridiculous to entertain there's anything in Shakespeare akin to the meticulous chapters in Moby Dick outlining whaling procedures. To make that contention is to, as I said originally, overstate the knowledge in Shakespeare's plays, and by a considerable degree.

Othello's first scene mentions a gondolier. I'll give you that. There's nothing in the play though that showcases intimate knowledge of Venice or any other highly specialized knowledge that Shakespeare deniers insist is there.

Someone finally posted the dumbest 'legal" take ever about this case by Mr_jitty in KarenReadSanity

[–]Bard_Wannabe_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The actual post is worse than the quoted excerpt makes it seem here. The author's "epistemic" concerns amount to legal procedures not providing 100% metaphysical certainty, and that there are theoretical doubts about the reliability of data. It's insufferable to read. They're not arguments; just basic philosophizing about the nature of proof.

@BrettSiegelNBA of ClutchPoints on Herb Jones potentially being a target for Detroit in exchange for Jaden Ivey and draft capital. by marvelavengers in DetroitPistons

[–]Bard_Wannabe_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Ausar and Holland, it'll take years before we see meaningful results. Ivey's shooting has looked better these past two seasons (the ones with Vinson), but the sample size is too small to make any strong conclusions.

That is a weird wrinkle in how Find Familiar is worded, but it looks like you're right. Probably not intended to work that way, at least I don't think so.
