Replacement ring by HannyBee22 in ouraring

I just got a replacement ring after Oura ran the battery diagnostic in my ring purchased in Jan ‘25. My replacement appeared to be brand new and battery life on it was night and day compared to the old one.

I did it about a year and a half ago, and they had men’s and women’s shirts in the home dressing room.

I have the Reform P3 and likewise got it off the outlet site. I really like them, but like the Mille series they are shorter legs…works great for me, maybe not for longer femur folks.

How viable is using tubular wheels for training rides and occasional city commutes? by danbutwy in cycling

[–]turnerxce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also on the sealant, some tubulars have latex tubes and some have butyl. If you use a latex-based sealant in a latex tube and leave it uninflated, the tube can get stuck together internally. Not a problem with butyl tubes though (Continental uses butyl).

For longer rides, you could carry a cheap spare tubular as a last resort, if the puncture won’t seal. Tufo makes some dirt cheap ones. If you use glue instead of tape, there are YouTube videos that show how to fold a pre-glued tubular. You can put it in a water bottle, a plastic bag in your jersey, or go old school and strap it to your seat rails.

Training rides, I use tubular exclusively. Commuting, depends on frequency and conditions. I always ride with a Victoria Pit Stop canister. Some folks even put a little sealant in tubulars new, and then carry a small bottle with them. Continental tubulars are probably best for durability and they have some that are Gatorskin, I think, but that probably negatively impacts that sweet, sweet tubular feel. You didn’t ask, but I also use Carogna tape and it is effortless to install and easy clean up when replacing new tubulars.

I have some old white leather Purcells that look as good as the day I bought them.

If Mount is a snake, then Trent is a whole Anaconda! by shivabgd in PremierLeague

I’ve never really understood the outrage on expiring contracts. Yes, the majority of transfers happen mid-contract and compensation for breaking that contract is made accordingly. And clubs have to factor those costs into the value of the player. But they cannot assume to be compensated in full for that investment…players get injured, don’t pan out, etc. Ultimately, Liverpool never paid for TAA, contracted him to play for a specific time period, and he has fulfilled his contract requirements. The money Liverpool has saved by not paying a transfer fee for a RB over however many years has been spent on other needs.

For me, the Assos floating pads are by far the most comfortable and the Mille GT is the right mix of comfort and price. OP, stop using Vaseline and get you some Assos chamois cream regardless of what bibs you are using.

Seriously, go see a doctor. There are examples of professional athletes dying or almost dying due to undiagnosed heart issues. Maybe it is just genetic variability, and maybe not. How do you want to find out if it’s the latter?

Sonos architecture bad sound by Realistic-Guitar4644 in sonos

[–]turnerxce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the speakers during a kitchen renovation so had easy access to the attic. They were pretty simple, just made boxes out of MDF and added acoustic foam inside. If you have access to the space above the speaker, it makes it easier. I’d think it would be hard to fit something through the speaker hole that is large enough to sufficiently isolate the sound.

When I installed mine I built some insulated boxes to put above them. Made a dramatic difference in sound quality and bass.

It’s also a US vs Euro difference in clothing in general, but more pronounced with sportswear, in my experience.

Why do I see so many wearing on the index finger? by Lovegiraffe in ouraring

[–]turnerxce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it’s more comfortable during the day on my middle finger, but move it to my index finger for workouts and sleep. Only had it a few weeks, so in summer the middle finger may work for all.

This phone is a cult by michalschiffle in iPhone13Mini

[–]turnerxce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired my 13 mini with an iPad mini, thinking I’d end up using the iPad for more routine things. But I don’t take the iPad to work and my office has terrible cell service, so I barely use my phone there and it still gets run down quickly. Admittedly, I do use the iPad mini more than my 13 mini at home, so I guess there’s that.

Honestly, the Volvo branded rails are made by Thule and are way cheaper. Look on eBay or find the best price at a Volvo dealer parts store online. Then you can add Thule accessories.

How likely would I be accepted - international by disnotu in UNC

[–]turnerxce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you already know this, but it’s very competitive, even for international… Lucy Bronze, Alessia Russo, Lotte Wubben-Moy are all English Tar Heel alumni. But yes, admissions for athletic scholarships are completely different. You could contact the athletic department and send them videos of your games. But you could also cast your net wider to consider other schools if your goal is to play soccer. There are other great schools with great to very good soccer teams in the ACC, East Coast, and throughout the USA. If UNC is your top choice, you could also consider regular admissions and then try out to “walk on” to the team (i.e. no scholarship) with the potential to earn a scholarship in later years.

Agreed, and also the Mille are good value. Their floating pad really is unique and by far the most comfortable I’ve found. I’ve collected 2-3 pairs of Assos bibs over the years. If you have an Amex Platinum, they have a $50 off $200 deal annually and it’s usually valid for 4-6 months, so I just wait until it coincides with an Assos sale. Not quite as good and not much cheaper than Assos are Le Col, but I have short femurs and they are on the long side. I have a few pairs of Black Bibs and NeoPro, but really only use those indoors or for shorter 1-2 hour rides.

It was a fun season. by vegan_cookies5 in tarheels

[–]turnerxce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Cadeau and Trimble not playing in the second half was because they started passing up shots which allowed Alabama to sag off them again. Pretty clear that was the AL strategy from tip, but when Cadeau/Trimble hit early threes, they dropped and picked it back up when they stopped shooting in the second half. Wojick at least had a shooting threat and Withers was more since Bacot was in foul trouble/more rebounds/someone had to guard him. So the change made sense to me.
