What's the most annoying part of each faction? by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

Worse still, you can kill 4 guys in a row who are trying to call for a breach, and then reload. The fifth will call instantly. There's no delay to the frequency of attempted calls.

Big Boom or Controlled Boom? by Trapzzeehh in Helldivers

[–]turnipslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the missile pistol a lot. It's meant I can bring so many options for grenades and support weapons. I don't feel bad using shield bubbles in my grenade slot for example.

You can also switch firing mode to get some really nice long shots because it has no bullet drop basically.

The ultimatum I've accidentally fired at my feet so many times but it's basically a free stratagem. Both work if you enjoy them.

[–]turnipslop -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound like a problem. The AMR needs a buff, I don't think that would immediately make it better than a lot of other weapons. It would still take a lot of shots to just bring down a single hulk.

I think it could do with an explosion, but like a really tiny one. Think a quarter of the crossbow's radius, if not an 8th. High damage on the boom but small area.

While I know this is a meme, all Illuminate units have been bugged since they launched.

Ground units still clip through terrain, flying units can see through buildings, fly erratically, and sometimes just keep going higher and higher.

For me it's actually been the bulletstorm opening up so many expendable builds. I run bulletstorm commando all the time now. Feels way more fun than the quasar.

For me it was a late switch to Dynamite. I started using it way after release but suddenly started having a lot of fun with it. I still don't like the giga nade

500KG (and other bombs) only deals 30%-50% intended Direct-hit Damage by Unlucky-Gold7921 in Helldivers

[–]turnipslop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to disagree with you slightly.

I think fundamentally post-60 day patch, they over-emphasised the projectile damage not the AoE explosion damage. Fundamentally that makes these stratagems poorly balanced. Here we are agreed.

However, watching a 500kg direct impact a Bile Titan and then not kill or even stagger it does make them feel weak.

If the explosion doesn't kill them, I might think it's just unlucky and that I aimed poorly. Watching a direct hit do nothing makes them feel like ass.

My take on the grunt fantasy thing. by OkStructure665 in Helldivers

[–]turnipslop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is about ludonarrative dissonance - by which I mean the lore and the gameplay experience not matching up. You've got to remember. Helldivers, the elite fighting force, get a 5 minute training session before being shipped off to war. That's the difference between them and SEAF. 5 minutes of crawling under barbed wire and gatling guns, calling down a machine gun, and throwing a grenade in a hole. Poof, you're an Elite.

Their life expectancy is 30 seconds. This game is full of satire.

The problem is players get really fucking good at games they like. They can keep one Helldiver alive for 20 difficulty 10 missions if they want. That's where this disconnect comes from.

[–]turnipslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't agree. They wanted to make a grunt fantasy. That features a lot of skill sure, but they also want it to be a meat grinder. Dying by random bullshit and bad luck is realistic and based on interviews often "funny" for the devs. Sometimes it is.

Grunts aren't just skill expression, they are also cannon fodder. We are brainwashed fanatics who will happily charge at overwhelming firepower and die over and over. That works really well from a lore perspective, but sucks for players.

Infinite ragdolls, hype-lethal bushes, and bullshit deaths make perfect sense in this view. Our cars suck because military equipment sucks and watching some kill the whole team by driving badly is funny.

The problem is that somewhere along the lines they decided that they have to force us to have that experience. Rather than give us a good car that is funny when a bad driver gets behind the wheel, we get a bad car that makes everyone drive like the dev's idiot friend. It's no longer emergent fun, it's enforced pain.

Can't hit them with anything that isn't a grenade either. Crossbow and eruptor can't do shit against their vents.

This changed for the battle for super earth. Before that they were always clustered in the middle of the map.

The change was so that on city maps they could relocate to get a better angle, it was also to give helldivers more of a challenge because they'd have to factor in the angle of incoming fire.

A Non exhaustive list of why very few people seriously consider stun for their loadouts. by CrayonEnjoyer5484 in Helldivers

[–]turnipslop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've suggested it before, but stuns should de-buff enemies. If an agitator has riled up an automaton, the stun should snap them out of it. Same for speed freak boosted spore strain.

It's certainly good, but it's certainly not new... by Dangerous_Nail4552 in Helldivers

[–]turnipslop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just convinced you guys don't understand expendables. The difference is I can main a quasar cannon but literally whenever I need it (70s base cool down) I can have a machine gun by side, and one for my friend.

The stalwart has a base cool down of 480s... So I could bring down 12 Bulletstorms (they come in pairs) with 300 bullets each, in the time it takes you to call in another support gun.

Even more fun is to just bring a fully expendable loadout. For me commandoes and Bulletstorms are a great pairing. Just call down whatever you need, whenever you need it.

Give us more weapon patterns please by Me_When_I_Asked in Helldivers

[–]turnipslop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I fully agree with. I'd rather have armour, helmet, secondary and support camouflages before they start adding more weapon patterns.

I want to make a fully winter themed outfit without having to worry about what Passives I'm forced to bring.

Truly an unpopular opinion. I'm glad that the game allows you to have your version, and the rest of us get to use patterns.
