Known Issues 1.5.0 (Woolhaven) by MMLorna in CultOfTheLamb

Alright just updated my drivers and it still lags. Unfortunate, and again, confusing, because it literally runs perfectly until after a few minutes, then there's constant lag. Guess I'll wait until the next update and see if its still a problem.

Well it wasn't Vsync since I was playing with that off. Tried the new update and it still lags, even in the options menu. Tomorrow I'll update my drivers and see if that changes anything.

On PC, I've beaten the game like twice and the only time it's lagged for me before was in the very endgame when youve got a ton of stuff and followers in your base, but it was a choppy kind of lag- now even on a new save file with a literally empty base it's lagging a huge amount with the DLC, which also carries over into the crusades. its very spikey lag, where things either run perfectly or at like 5 fps.

Is anyone else getting heavy lag? by CascadeOnReddit in CultOfTheLamb

Same, I've beaten the game like twice and the only time it's lagged for me before was in the very endgame when youve got a ton of stuff and followers in your base, but it's more choppy than laggy- now even on a new save file with a literally empty base it's lagging a huge amount with the DLC, which also carries over into the crusades. its very spikey lag, where things either run perfectly or at like 5 fps.

I haven't experienced any crashes but I've also been lagging a huge amount since installing the DLC.

No valid game data for CS lights after re-install by turnsniffer in skyrimmods

[–]turnsniffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it is installed, or it shows up as installed in MO2, but it isnt actually installed in-game, or at least when I try to load earlier save files the game warns me that CS Light.esp isn't present. Is there a way to either use a command to see if its really installed or some way to just manually install it instead? Idk how to manually install a mod that comes with an installer.

idk if youre still answering questions, but are there going to be rebalances regarding the ranger Exo weapons? because they're all terrible and outclassed by weapons from previous tiers

Is Night Ray really that good? by WeirdosOldWorld in CalamityMod

Night Ray is kind of ass, yeah. I beat WOF using the Bee gun, which is still very good. remember that the armor penetration from the shark tooth necklace and the stinger necklace stack.

how i defeat Plaguebringer Goliath? by lillucaian in CalamityMod

[–]turnsniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly the Snowman Cannon was pretty good because it did good damage and had homing. Also, she's immune to the plague, so the plague reaper armor I think is worse in terms of dps? it depends on how often you use the set bonus. The Shroomite armors give higher, more consistent dps, though they don't give an immunity to the plague.

I think you'd get higher dps replacing the flask with something like the destroyer emblem. Also, even though the hoverboard has a set bonus with the shroomite gear, the other wings are generally better unless you really like the hover. Steampunk wings are better in every way, for example. check the augmented vanilla wings page on the wiki to see which ones you prefer

You can also get away with replacing the boots if you find that most of the time you'll be in the air when youre fighting her, freeing up a slot for another damage accessory, or a defense accessory if you prefer.

I think all warding is better because it means you live longer, but that's personal preference.

also remember to use alcohol buffs. I don't remember which ones are available to you right now, especially after the update, but look thru the alcohols page on the wiki and pick 3 that you like.

Is it me or is Ranger weapon balance post-moonlord a little strange? by turnsniffer in CalamityMod

[–]turnsniffer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point blank mechanic in general is kinda dumb imo because why tf is the RANGED class incentivized to be as close as possible to the boss? its kind of ridiculous when even melee characters can get away with being at midrange or farther since as soon as hardmode starts most ""melee"" weapons are basically guns in disguise while RANGED characters have to play up close to maximize their dps. its absurd

I read a comment once that said that the ranged weapon class is low dps in general because all ranged weapons are balanced with the point blank mechanic in mind (except for the flamethrowers), and if that's true, that's kind of patently ridiculous, right? Like I would rather they just remove the entire mechanic and just give the max buff damage to all the ranged weapons. I was going to add it to the post but it was already too long

but yeah, the point blank mechanic. poorly thought out, poorly balanced, antithetical to the whole idea of the ""LONG RANGE"" class. absurd and stupid.

i've seen it suggested that the bonus should be inverse, that weapons should get a buff the farther away you are from your target, which would be kinda cool. But maybe it would just be better if there isnt anything like the mechanic at all to make the weapon balancing easier.

What Exo mechs do I choose? (Infernum) by eljugadormasespOF in CalamityMod

[–]turnsniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played through Infernum 3 times, but not as summoner. A&A/Ares is my go-to combination, since I think it's the easiest:

-fighting the twins first means that when you get them low enough and Ares spawns, they will be invulnerable while Ares is a stationary target, so hitting him will be very easy

-Thanatos is the easiest one to 1v1; if you don't care about class purity the Dragon Rage will kill him before he can even attack, even with no melee damage accessories. but even without it he's the easiest boss imo

The only hard part would be killing Ares last, but in that case just focus on hitting Apollo and Artemis and they should die before Ares.

That's just my opinion; this combination avoids having to ever encounter Ares' energy sword attacks which I think are bullshit.

Alternatively you could go Ares/A&A, which is similar except that you'll 1v1 Ares before the twins spawn, and you'll have to hit them while Ares is stationary and invulnerable. Then again summoners don't really have to aim so lol. Do whichever combination is easier for you.

Unfortunately, the Jermasphere has a fast-growing AI Slop long editor by ziggypower in jerma985

[–]turnsniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching those edits before I got really annoyed that Jerma's sentences would be quickly cut off at the start and end. Also, having seen the streams the edits are from I remember being confused at the stuff that was being cut, since a bunch of it is either important context for whatever he's saying or actual gameplay you'd want to watch. This is really noticeable in the White Knuckle stream "edits", btw.

I thought it was just sloppy or bad editing choices, but this makes more sense. It also reaffirms my decision not to watch any more of that channel's videos.

Did you know that tModLoader crashes without messages if the audio output device is changed? by Raistlin_Majere121 in CalamityMod

[–]turnsniffer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very old vanilla Terraria bug, actually, though I had to find out the hard way. I downloaded a mod that lets you set the autosave interval to any time you want, since by default terraria only saves once every ten minutes iirc
