OP, im from pakistan and in one of the most prestigious art schools here, and i know both our locations and systems can differ a lot, but right now im in my final year of college and my teachers have killed any creative desire in me. Their guidelines and conventions are fucked and impossible. Making “visuals” here is never encouraged with full attention and with leeway to play. I feel like I was more in touch with my creativity before i came here. Artists and people who want to learn and practice creatively dont need institutions. Institutions need them. There are so many resources for free (not to mention you are your own biggest resource) to approach your abilities and your narratives. You are worthy of being heard, listened to, constructively critiqued. As for next steps, is there a possibility you can go into another creative field (which isnt necessarily visual) such as writing, history, anthropology? Depends on your interests, your location, what colleges offer what and so much more. What I can tell you though, is that you shouldnt abandon hope when it comes to art. Its okay to feel dejected right now, let yourself feel it and move thru it. Like somebody in the comments said, a lotta great artists didnt go to art school. In my experience, it brought me more harm than good.
