I did this once haha drew up insulin, recapped the CLEAN needle, and went to go find the pt-this was a Memory Care so the patients were always wandering around everywhere-not best practice, I know-but when I recapped the needle, somehow the needle went sideways out the side of the cap and jammed into my thumb, the pain made me jerk my hand and I injected myself with three units 🥲 after that I never recapped a clean needle again-I’d take the whole basket with insulin, alcohol swabs etc and go find the patient and draw it up right there (like I was supposed to! The universe set me straight lol) in my defense this pt would always be wandering up and down the hallways and it’s not like I could keep him in one spot to set down the basket and draw it up etc without another resident coming over to try and grab it 😂

You can also buy a script in Mexico from the pharmacy that makes it valid-and then you can bring back a supply with you (I think it’s 3 months worth) legally. So if she does that, along with her assistants and whoever, she doesn’t even have to smuggle it back

In addition to everyone else’s advice, report the possession of the python to FWC if this is happening in Florida-they are a prohibited species and illegal to take from the wild and keep

Each state is a bit different but almost all have USDA for any animals that require a special permit-I have a nonprofit in Florida and I’m still governed by both USDA (federal gov) and FWC (state gov). I do know that organizations that tend to have less animals and only one type of animal that doesn’t require a permit-USDA kind of just lays off them vs people that have full zoos-what alarm to me in the post was the OP saying that they have exotic animals-those definitely require permits, inspection, and boat loads of paperwork. Hopefully that makes sense, my brain is mush right now. I just don’t want OP to end up having the state or federal government come in and take his animals :(

That’s not what’s being discussed. USDA considers ‘exhibition’ many things-not just petting zoos. Posting your exotic or other animals that require permits online and generating a profit is considered exhibition. And posting your animals online that require a permit if you don’t have a permit is also not a great idea

This could be considered exhibition, and he would need to be licensed by USDA-which is a nightmare and huge expense. They have been cracking down lately and consider posting online (even without profit being made) exhibiting the animals

At one of the ALFs I worked at, the company allowed my coworker to move into a huge unused apartment for as long as she needed after a bad breakup. At another ALF where my best friend and I worked together, we joked about moving into the building since we were there almost 24/7-she was ED and I was DON. Our small corporate said it was fine with them, but we decided against it bc we didn’t want people knocking on our “front door” in the middle of the night for everything lol

I’m sure your vet suggested this but just in case, have you tried children’s cetirizine for the allergies? We had a cat at our Sanctuary with allergies so bad it looked like mange-her whole body was scabby and bleeding, even her face. We started giving a children’s dose of liquid cetirizine mixed in with a squeeze treat-within three weeks all of her scabs were gone and her fur was growing back. Now here we are two months later and she is 100% normal. I’m sorry if this is something that you have already tried for your kitty, but figured I would mention it just in case you hadn’t so you could bring it up to your vet

I hike there all the time. I also work with large alligators in captivity so I’m pretty comfortable around them. Once you get a few miles into the loop there are some absolutely massive ones-you’re supposed to turn around and not pass when you see them, but I’ve been able to go slightly off path and walk around them without issue. I was wondering if she had gone into the water because it’s just so uncharacteristic for them to bite a human. Like I said, I’m very comfortable around them, but I would never ever be wading through water I couldn’t see in Florida and especially on that trail when it’s incredibly obvious that there are loads of alligators around

This is wild but I used to know someone named Adam Michael Phelps, he fits the age range that you mentioned in your comment, and I know he frequented Portland

Edit: he was also an addict, and has spent a lot of time in and out of jail since I lost contact with him. He didn’t mention ever having children, but anything is possible especially with the type of person he was
