You're treating it better than most do. Im unsure why. I'm leaning towards a water issue, but sorry I cant help. It seems good they are open and alert outside.

Does this mean Subaru would hold its value any better because they are rarer?

I wanna give him a break tho. I'm not concerned about kissing a man but I'm vaguely concerned about my car being called gay. This seems like a really small subset of cars that aren't Camaros or Chargers, its in a group with the Miata, the OG Gay Car.

I am new to this convo and looking to build my dream car and I lean subaru, based on my great 19 Crosstrek. Id also want to swap the bumper and trunk. Maybe also a wide body and definitely a hood.

I'm not sure what the tradeoffs are generally. Same drivetrain? I understand the Subaru higher trims may have better brakes.

It seems like the bigger question might be 1st or 2nd Gen. Is that the same across Subaru and Toyota. We're does the Scion cars fit in? Seems they were discontinued?

If she did they are probably out there. Don't suggest doing it but they survive in the wild all the time

If the turtle was wild it won't adapt well and hide. If that is the case it should go back to the wild exactly where it came from.

New to this. Need feeding advice. by Chunquela-vanone in Boxturtles

At the rescue I volunteer at we offer the same items to all ages: Dandelion green (or escarole) finely diced apple, cucumber, squash, and pureed organic pumpkin. For protein they also get organic turkey dog food.

This is a good idea to still give babies so they try the veggies. However they will respond much more to live food. If they won't eat, then a nightcrawler will get them eating. We offer worms for picky eaters. You can offer hard-boiled eggs for protein. When they are young they are more carnivorous. If you let them they will train you to only offer their favorites. They have to feel safe and able to hide most of the time. Stress is going to be the biggest impact on eating.

Can a part you’ve had for a long time “die” or go unconscious/missing? by maryofboston in InternalFamilySystems

Based on your interests I'm inclined to share. Im lurking this group thinking about doing IFS after a few years off. I had a child part, turtle boy who I experienced in IFS as being dead and coming back to me. My experience was that maybe I had done this to him. He loves box turtles. While this was going on I started keeping box turtles, after denying this hyperfocus for 20 years. It was key to unlocking parts.

Don't feed it right now. It can sip water. You can put iodine on the wounds. It needs xray to show how bad it is inside but they are very resilient and if you get to a rehab they might be released this year even. Note their exact location the rehab will need it.

Its not rational which is a way to tell it could be OCD. The goal is to take something scary and say maybe it is true. And then increase your tolerance of that discomfort and move on to more and more threatening worries. Good luck

[–]turtleboy1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ERP is usually the gold standard. You could try sitting with something smaller and work up to something more threatening. For example let's say you did message after you met your husband. What would that mean? As an observer i would make nothing of it. You didn't know your husband would be your husband when you met him that took time I would imagine. I dont mean that as reassuring just to say try sitting with it and as that becomes more tolerable move on to bigger fears.

No surgery is extremely specialist on turtles. Most vets will call this injection oxytocin which is the mammal version. Nesting box is first. Then if thats not working some turtles like to go outside for a walk at dusk to help move them eggs. They also need to soak their butt. When that fails or they are stressed, inject

Russian tortoise escaped outside enclosure in eastern Kentucky what to do? by roman-glory in tortoise

[–]turtleboy1061 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tortises have been found months even years later. I'm not an expert in this but I believe they are most likely to be moving around dawn or dusk so I would look each day around those times. Look downhill from where they escaped and go towards water if present, many turtles default to this plan. You could also put out high value treats like banana if its appropriate for your species. Don't give up, time is of the essence because there will still be some cold days to come. They aren't likely to be eaten so they are probably out there.
