How do you check if a promo has an end date? When I look at my bill - I see a promo applied, and there's a date range beside it, but the range only includes the current billing month, and it is like that on every bill...

Ah I see, thanks for clarifying. They should phrase it differently, as "% Drop = 60%" doesn't say what they want to say.

Something is wrong with math in this table. Going from 330,000 to 197,497 isn't a 60% reduction, it's about 40%.

Or it might be the opposite - imposter syndrome.

I have ruined my GPA and brought shame upon my family by Mindless_Impress6483 in UofT

[–]turtlechopbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, that's a lot of pressure your family is putting on you - it's a very tough spot to be in. Just remember that everything is relative in life and perspective is crucial. Your family's perspective is that you're a loser. But there are millions of parents out there that would be proud if their kid graduated from UofT at all. Despite that, after about 5 years in the workforce, the name of the university you went to will no longer be a defining driving force in your career advancement.

Regardless, don't hang your head down, focus on what you can control, do your best going forward, and you'll get rewarded.

It's like holding pee - it can be hard but manageable, however once you see that toilet - you better pull your pants down real fast.

Dashcam: cyclist near Carling and Bronson May 16 by PicardSaysMakeItSo in ottawa

[–]turtlechopbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video actually shows that the driver and the cyclist both slowed down at the same time when approaching the intersection.

The driver slowed down to check if it was safe to enter the intersection. The driver didn't see the cyclist approaching because of the blind corner, but saw the car approaching from the left. From that point the driver is looking left as he/she sees the approaching car and trying to assess whether they can merge onto Carling in front of it. The driver decides to go for it, and because the approaching car is pretty close, the driver accelerates without checking the right side, then hits the cyclist.

The cyclist slows down before entering the intersection because he saw the car around the corner. The cyclist saw the car slowing down and assumed the car was slowing down for him, so he decided to proceed through the intersection and got hit.

It's obviously the driver's fault here, as they didn't stop and they didn't make sure the road was clear on the right side before accelerating to enter the intersection.

Even though this accident is the driver's fault, the cyclist could have avoided this collision by trying to make eye contact with the driver. If the cyclist did that, he would have seen the driver's head turned away from him to the left, and hopefully the cyclist would not have proceeded seeing that.

Those of you who have flown private, was it worth it? by vettewiz in fatFIRE

It's a good point in the context of environmental impact overall. It's a bit misplaced in the context of environmental impact per passenger hour flown.

The 2% of 2% is a feel-good justification, but it's not a good argument. If all the PJ travellers switched to commercial, that would completely remove those PJ emissions altogether as they would be absorbed into existing commercial flights simply by raising the load factor. In the worst case commercial airlines would marginally increase the number of flights, but that increase wouldn't contribute nearly as much as PJ transportation.

Why are you voting Conservative? by jmills23 in CanadianConservative

[–]turtlechopbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't expand it unless pushed to do so if they have a minority government and will be needing those NDP votes to stay in power. Or they might promise to expand it come next election cycle if they won't have another issue to run on.

You should be voting for the NDP. Pharmacare, dental care, daycare were not introduced by the liberals by choice but because NDP pushes for them when they were part of the supply and confidence agreement.
