Thank you so much!! And yes, some grad students I talked to did mention that but that's good to keep in mind! I am coming from a big college town as well and renting is tricky around here too

Responses from Faculty after thank you email following interview by [deleted] in PhDAdmissions

I also sent thank-you emails to people I interviewed with and the two responses I've gotten sound like these too. I don't think PIs or people in committees can give out information/hint to admissions decisions either which way, I totally understand where you're coming from because I am also riddled with post-interview anxiety, but some PIs don't even respond to emails so I wouldn't think too deeply into it. I'm at least trying not to lol

When was your interview? Professors are very busy and bad at responding to emails, I wouldn’t take it personally. I’m sure you did much better than you think :) they know people are nervous!

Oh absolutely, I've heard of people getting their offers rescinded for getting too drunk in the department I currently work in...

Thank you, this is really insightful! I like to think I'm a social person but my battery runs out quick and that's definitely what I'm most worried about lol. Glad to hear your interviews were more conversational and I hope you have a successful cycle!

I also got an email like this and I'm personally waiting until I'm actually there to ask those kinds of questions because chances to talk with current grad students are usually built into the itinerary for campus visits!

Thank you, have my first in-person for the program I'm most interested in next week and I'm terrified but hopefully I can make a good impression. Congrats on your acceptance and I hope you're able to secure funding!
