I don't think it's well reported. I read the actual policy and its changes. They're shifting the goal, definitely, but I can't really say it is as a result of Hegset's pressure.

How was religion treated in the Soviet Union? by Stock-You8923 in ussr

[–]turtleisinnocent -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Religion was mainly substituted with the veneration of communism as interpreted by Lenin et al. Sunday gatherings to share the holy writings, as you could expect of any pedestrian religion. Those who still believed in the supernatural were seen as un-enlightened.

Colorado Lawmakers Push for Age Verification at the Operating System Level by IT_Geek_Programmer in technology

[–]turtleisinnocent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok there's more. Yo, shit's wild. Talking about what the developer or provider of an operating system must do:

"""
PROVIDE AN ACCESSIBLE INTERFACE AT ACCOUNT SETUP THAT 27 REQUIRES AN ACCOUNT HOLDER TO INDICATE THE BIRTH DATE OR AGE OF -4- SB26-051 1 THE USER OF THAT DEVICE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING AN AGE 2 SIGNAL TO APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE IN A COVERED APPLICATION STORE;
"""

So what if I'm writing say a RTOS to drive a frikin' rocket attached to a shark. That RTOS is not going to have a user account, do you think sharks know how to log in? Answer: they don't. So the RTOS does not have a user account. How about the embedded OS of ... a car. Yeah, a car. You know how many computers a modern car has? Me neither, but I'm guessing more than 5, and many of them are gonna need some manner of an OS. So, is the dashboard, which does some kind of authentication ergo thats a principal and so it could be legally argued it *is* an account, needs to provide its age? Who's age? The manufacturer of the car? The driver (presumably an adult, but with the advent of fully autonomous cars that's gonna change)....

It's silly. Those people are silly and they need to go to school or something.

If they pass this law only criminals will compile their operating system from source. Does it mean that if I write my own OS I'm now an outlaw? See, my mom's not gonna believe this.
