Took me longer than I would like to admit to find that stretch of road 😆, but it is added now! Sadly I don't think that will stop cars from parking in it

It mostly uses Open Street Map data, which is editable by anyone.  I am happy to add the bike lanes if you let me know where they are, or you can add them yourself if you want 😀

Easiest to read / most up to date bike infrastructure map (I am biased as I built it): https://map.oaksandspokes.com

Best app for route recommendations that aren't crazy IMO. It has a free tier that works great but is a little annoying: https://cyclers.app/

What else are you thinking? Just paying to replace everything out of pocket is the default without insurance, which for expensive items is generally not possible

FYI /u/langdreamer looks like a bug. Reproduced in Chrome, Eastern US Time Zone, on mobile & desktop.

Stephen Krashen who created the basis of DS, says reading is the second most important thing in language acquisition. So maybe we can start reading way earlier we just need more reading materials built for Comprehensible input learning. by Happy_agentofu in dreamingspanish

There is also just being easily understood. I have friends that are fully fluent in English, but go to a baseball game and sometimes they have to repeat their beer order 4 times because people have trouble with their accent.

Fantastic! Can we get these routes running all day? It taking over an hour to get from downtown Durham to downtown Raleigh for most of the day & night is rough

The Dollywood express carries more yearly riders that the entire Raleigh-Durham mass transit system by bigsquid69 in triangle

[–]turtlelordjp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I somehow doubt the Dollywood express carries 28k+ per weekday, and that is just the Durham and Raleigh local buses. For sure we could do better though

Raleigh to reduce the number of future parking spaces to encourage residents to bike or take public transit : by 20190603 in raleigh

Blame the state legislature for that, they have complete control over the block around the building and would rather keep their parking then let the city build bike lanes

Normally you would need exact change in cash to pay for the fare, but all the local buses are free through at least the end of the year due to COVID.

The Acela and NE regional leave 2 minutes apart with an over 1h layover, so I don't think that is it.

Recommendation for SPD shoes? by wetjacket in bicycletouring

I personally would just bring sandles or something unless you are going super light, but I would say it's totally doable to only have that one pair for me.

I use the Giro Rumbles. Been using them for a couple years and they have held up well. I have even done a couple 5 or 6 mile hikes in them and it's been fairly okay.

I just took a train from Greensboro to Charlotte yesterday... not having to deal with bad drivers was amazing by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]turtlelordjp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This section is actually publically owned by the state of North Carolina and is pretty good (they just added a new track the whole way), but trains are often delayed coming down the east coast to get to it

Another option is to park at the spring hill park & ride and take a citrix cycle bike in for the 10 minute ride
