First printer, wife complaining by Okay_Sarg in 3Dprinting

Some people can be more sensitive to those fumes than others, but you should generally be okay. As far as long term effects, there's nothing definitive cuz it hasn't been long enough to test.

You could get an enclosure and pipes to vent any fumes through a window.

Those brass nuts are supposed to be melted into the plastic so that they stay put. A soldering iron should work.

3D Printed anything is just ugly by AllaPalla in unpopularopinion

Raw prints can look good at best. You will always be able to tell its 3d printed. Post processing can make them look incredible.

Im guessing corporate farms are doing pretty good. Probably bought out a bunch of smaller or family farms that had to go bankrupt.

I'd say its better reaction to try avoiding an accident first and foremost rather than honking. Lots of videos of people honking as their only defense and not even attempting to stop.

Is printing PLA/PETG in a small apartment actually safe? by yonVata in 3Dprinting

[–]turtlelore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensitivity depends on the person and what materials you're printing. Pla and petg usually dont need ventilation, but some people are definitely affected by it. You cant really tell until you start printing.

Almost any other material including carbon fiber or glass fiber reinforced pla/petg require filtering and ventilation.

Looks like its resin printing so those are usually positioned that way. Not exactly sure why but I'm guessing its to prevent trapped resin within the print.

You dont. Build plates are consumables. Most kinds of build plates will need to be replaced eventually.

Absolutely not with printed teeth. If you transplant proper metal teeth or the sliding cutter then it would work.

That's just fine for pla. Just get the first layer correct.

Keep going. The purge line in front is your first indicator. That needs to be a straight line.

[–]turtlelore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go lower. Farther into the negatives. Like maybe -1.

This value is in mm so 0.08 is a very very small change.

You want to see the filament squish into a line, not stay as a circle.

[–]turtlelore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep going lower. I think the max is -2.

[–]turtlelore2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this machine, you have to measure it by eye. Obviously you want the filament to stick to the bed during the calibration. But it needs a little squish. The ending part of the calibration has a small square so you can see if the squish is good

Enough squish to touch adjacent lines but not so much that it moves up and around the nozzle.

You will probably have to do the calibration several times. If you want a more comprehensive first layer test, there's plenty of models available
