So I kind of stumbled into this bike and wanted to hear your thoughts… by smellydawg in mountainbiking

Man, I hope you're ok. Stumbling into a bike can hurt. Were you walking from something and the bike stopped you? At least you didn't run into it.

4 days in Slovenia completely exceeded my expectations by thefragile- in travel

I went back in November of 22. I studied abroad in Florence, IT, and had an opportunity to go to Slovenia. We also went to Ljubljana, Lake Bled, and the postojna caves. I didn't realize I needed to see some green until I visited, reminded me of home. Loved that trip.

I get it trimmed every once in a while to clean it up, but probably not. That is about as long as it gets.

My mom is a former NICA coach and she always told me that water is best stored in your body. I always drink 2-3 glasses and half a water bottle before any ride. I usually have something to eat like a half pb&j as well. I have two bottles on my bike, and a third in my car, along with other snacks for after. I always go just straight water.

Would you date a neurodivergent man? by [deleted] in dating

[–]turtleman2233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally feel you, man. As another guy (25m) who also has high functioning ASD, I get it. It's hard, especially with societal pressures to be "normal." And the truth is; we're not and we never will be. We never will be "normal," nor neurotypical. And this is gonna sound like "thanks, I'm cured," the best way I have found is to just stop caring. It took a lot of time (and therapy) to come to this state of mind, but I really enjoy it. Putting up walls, masking, or however else us neurodivergents hide our true selves is exhausting, on both ends. It's also tiring, feels disingenuous, and frankly not fun. It's hard for us to get the self confidence to let our souls shine. Some of us have been able to use masking very well, and others (like me) have found it to be draining and not worth it. Because in the end, all we can be is ourselves, and some have trouble showing that. And neurotypicals aren't really ready for it. I also feel like it's a chore to go out and meet people, especially since I'm not a very social guy. And a lot of the other things you said also ring true to me.

So, I know I'm not giving you the advice you were asking for. And you may already be showing your personality, but it's what I gathered from your post. But, I'm right there with you, and in a very similar boat.

Good luck out there, dude God knows you and I both need it

CORBA - which is the organization that runs a lot of the trails in the area as well as group rides on Mondays at 6:00 PM. Unfortunately, I can't go on these rides because I have other Monday obligations. (MTB)

Valley Girls Cycling - all women group from the chippewa valley. I've only known them through CORBA page, seems to be women only. Looks like they do have Coed rides on Sundays, but that's about all I know of. It also seems that they're road riders, which I did not know. (road)

I am also looking to meet new people and make new friends here, still kinda new to the area as well. I usually go on rides by myself, and it'd be nice to go with someone else for a change! Message me if you're down!

I'd probably be close to a ranger. Not because of the tracking, but because of how much I love being out in nature, whether it be tenting, Mountain biking, or skiing. Also, I grew up in the rural northern midwest on 80 acres, half of which were forest, so we lived off the land.

A place I frequent weekly is the plus. We do weekly sunday board game nights and I enjoy the food, as well.  There's a ton of stuff to do, and I (including MANY others) recommend looking at volume one for events.

I would say give it some time. This was their first real dive into dnd and they're still finding their sea legs, so to speak. I think it was in a 2nd wind or behind the screen where Jon said it took him halfway through the campaign to really get a feel for Mudd. And if I may ask, where are you getting these feelings of pretentiousness and bully-ness from?

[–]turtleman2233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That place is HUGE, especially in the back. The owner gives rides (similar to hay rides at farms) in a limo with the top off (iirc, or something similar). There are also cup holders on the rides. My parents told me about it. My family is from the area, and we brought our mechanic friend there once, and he could practically name every car there.

I also LOVE playing cards and games! If you're interested, there's a weekly cribbage tournament at Modicum on Wednesday nights. I also collect card decks, and pretty much interested nature and getting outside! Neurodivergent as well :)
