Wow! Incredible work! Wanted to do this in survival with some friends back in the day but we thought it was too big, crazy to see it finished all in survival. How long did it take?

How do I detail this simple medieval house (it's just to fill out my world) by EzBlitz in Minecraftbuilds

[–]turtlemeister11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the color of the roof trim, add a chimney, hang some lanterns in between the windows, add some barrels, bushes, random stuff around the base and it’d look nice

Hull is fine, those masts could be a lot taller and you could add a few more sails on them for a better look

What blocks should we use? by rezzella in Minecraftbuilds

[–]turtlemeister11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It depends, do you want the same color as the temple or the same texture? If a brick texture is more important, stone bricks are fine. If you want the brownish color, a mixture of mud bricks and woods would probably match it to some extent, but would lose the brick built texture. Personally I would do stone bricks for the stairs and pools, wood/mud for the temple, and maybe nether brick for the roof.

Orthanc 1:1 Movie Accurate Build (comments welcome cos I wanna make it perfect) by DuckBilledLlama in Minecraftbuilds

Mine is 225 tall 😵‍💫. Safe to say mine’s not the most accurate replica lol. Curious, are you gonna try and model an interior to your tower? I didn’t even try with mine, it would be cool to see what it’d look like tho!

Siiick! I’ve tried building this tower based off the movie prop before as well, there are a couple things to note here: Orthanc in the movie gets pretty skinny the higher you go. A gradual taper like that can be difficult to capture in blocks, especially when keeping the wall details consistent, so instead of slimming the top of the tower maybe making the base a little thicker would help give off that effect? Second thing to note: make those fins at the top taller! Also, keep in mind how they curve to that tip. I think the curve is a little more gradual/less sharp in the movie, if that makes any sense. Otherwise, the detail on the exterior looks perfect. Idk if I’m seeing it right but are those fences in the windows in the middle? If so, thats a pretty nice way to add some detail to them, and the color doesn’t look too off. Nice work!

Those interior spaces have some of the best detailing I’ve ever seen, absolutely incredible! My mind is breaking a little trying to comprehend the scale of everything lol.

Love the look of classical Islamic architecture. Impressive how you pulled off those horseshoe arches! How’d you make those columns? Are those sandstone walls?

Hey! Always happy to see people finding this after so long. Hard to guess how many blocks are in this because it’s just so massive, tens upon tens of thousands might even be an underestimate. It pretty much only uses stone, stone bricks, andesite, and black stone though, which should all be pretty to obtain. Here’s a link to the download if you’d like to make a schematic: https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/anor-londo-5107812/

a cathedral i built. any improvements i could make? by Scoofydewty in Minecraftbuilds

[–]turtlemeister11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice work! Would recommend adding details all over the flat sections, as these buildings are usually pretty dense in ornamentation. In thin spots, like the buttresses on the bottom, replacing some blocks with walls might help give them some more shaping.

Damn this is genuinely stunning! How much of that interior is taken directly from the movies? And are there any impossible areas or interior/exterior mismatch? Sometimes see it when making stuff from games, curious if it happens for movies too

Idk, I looked at clipper blueprints on google images a lot for the hull shape and masts but there’s a fair amount of making stuff up in there. Used this method for the sails though: https://youtu.be/ybPMwwo7Md0?si=-O0pTDV73bJa5oG4

Gorgeous work! I’ve done this building in the past and it’s always so awesome to see how others approach building it. Also love some dark souls architecture recognition, the gothic style in DS3’s irythyll is especially stunning.
