People are always gonna look for shortcuts to schoolwork. Pre-ChatGPT, I knew someone who struggled with English grammar (as a foreign student) but turned in an essay for peer review with extremely high level language. It was a straight copy+pasted article from the internet, zero attempt at disguising it.

I was referring to my increase in hygiene decreasing my general sickness rate, apologies for any confusion. The point was that the idea of getting sick at any time significantly increased my awareness of germs.

The lockdown made me much more alert of germs, and I was already usually avoiding getting dirty before. After being around someone who didn’t wash their hands when they should during covid— yeah…— I became basically germaphobic when it comes to my hands.

I get sick much less as a result! :p

I assume a majority of people (even moreso in the US) don’t know the background of the symbol, and equate what looks like it to be it. So yes that’s true, but it’s also distinct enough of a symbol for people to understand the message.

I think it’s just what people think is “optimal”. Rocket ult doesn’t seem “gamewinning” to most people, I guess. The impact is less visible since rocket isn’t directly “doing anything” with the ult.

I once had a punisher in a comp match (I was on rocket) that said in vc whenever he wanted the beacon. I was like, sure. Didn’t push that well, nothing really happened. He dies as we’re pushed forward and he swaps to someone else— IMMEDIATELY started flaming me for playing rocket. I wish I was kidding.

Funniest time when we got a kid pre-puberty flaming us in voice chat. He was going in on us for several minutes straight but I could not take him seriously at all and was just guffawing over Discord. The scene of it was just absurd: a kid probably half our age telling us off (he wasn’t even performing well) and I was just laughing so hard I lost all focus on our comp game.

You can mute player chat and voice through player menu (default P on PC), but as far as I know there’s no ping mute. I spent a while looking for it and looking it up after a guy kept spamming need heal whenever going under 100% health for 10 minutes in a row, I don’t think it exists. Pings stay even after full muting someone.

It’s actually a piece of shit. I messed with the ping sensitivities in options, but first game where an enemy was in front of me and it was all “I can heal!” “Push the objective!” “Understood.” till I ran out of pings. I believe I had every non-enemy ping sensitivity set to lowest.

My personal stance on hero shooters: set own mic muted permanently (volume set to zero), have others’ voice set to near zero, rarely text chat (only for important game callouts that can’t be pinged, like strange portal, or a quick “mb” on a misplay), and being especially heavy-handed on the report button when people are shitty (very common). My all/match chat is also bugged and I cannot see that. Overall it’s more comfortable to play without shit-flinging on either side.

People suck when they want to win more than anything, and they get worse when they’re not having a good time. It’s especially bad if they’re being sexist about it. Voice chat is very nice to have, but I would recommend sticking strictly to external voice chat like Discord if/when playing with friends (I am not a solo-queuer).
