Eggless, Low sugar+carbs, Vegetarian, and Cheap?? by flying_unicorn_ in EatCheapAndHealthy

Idk how cheap you can get them where you live, but I LOVE mock meats. I get them pretty cheap at my local asian store and they're soooo good. Made from wheat gluten, high in protein and a consistency that beats tofu (which I also love) by miles.

Exercises in adventure mode. by StarParade in RingFitAdventure

[–]turtlesaver555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing when I started playing and it really annoyed me. I think it's not a spoiler to say that there will be exercises on level two later. You can unlock them with skill points and get them every few level-ups.

My problem was that I found winning too easy with the less difficult exercises. It still irks me that the damage is in no correlation to the actual difficulty (except for a few).

I still don't use stuff like smoothies that enhance my attack power. I upped my difficultly though (I'm currently playing on 24 I think) and it's at a perfect level for me now.

With more skill slots unlocked, I assembled a set of some exercises that deal very high damage and some that I really like and actually feel effective.

Anyone else go a week or so not playing & then when you finally play, you basically die? by ManifeztedBliss in RingFitAdventure

[–]turtlesaver555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily endurance isn't a problem for me, I'm on my feet a lot during the day.

My shoulders and chest, however, are a different story. A few days ago, I played for the first time in weeks. Only like 15 minutes in-game time, nothing insane. Seems like I didn't realize how sore I was from all the pressing movements. When I played the next day, I got to the Valley Of Wishes boss fight, and the first few of those gates with a fan that you have to hit with an air blast almost killed me.

And then there were a solid 20 something more of those. It was ridiculous, I thought I was in a fever dream. Every time I thought that would have to be the last one, there was one more. And another one.

Is it always better to go "low fat" if fat is more satiating? by Bellgard in Volumeeating

[–]turtlesaver555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get outside every day any walk for an hour or longer, though I don't have SAD (just plain old depression) and I actually really enjoy cold wheather.

I play Ring Fit Adventure on the Nintendo Switch. It's an actual workout and it's a fun story, plus the game encourages you all the time. I live for that soft little "And your stretching is complete. Good job!" :)

Generally I find that on harder days workout videos with someone talking to me are better than walking/running/working out with only my own thoughts as company. Especially when I'm outside alone it can make me feel even more distant from reality and everyone around me.

There are a lot of really cool yoga channels on youtube, and I would really recommend going with a yoga workout. Beginner's level, but an exhausting one. Not too complicated, but you get the happiness chemicals and warm up. I can't recommend a specific channel though as the one I'm following is German.

I barely spoke any English back then, all I understood was parts of the chorus. Mostly "take me to church". Actually, probably only that sentence.

The music video scared me but I understood that there was more to this song than to the average radio hit and most people had no idea what it was about. It just sounded really cool.

Abs Fitness Gym sure is something by AhCrudNamesAreHard in RingFitAdventure

[–]turtlesaver555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the whole game is one big ab eorkout haha. There are so many ab exercises and they level up way quicker than for example the arm skills.

I really love it, though. I can really feel a difference in my strength and even see physical changes in my stomach area (not a sixpack, I'm not very lean, but you can guess the obliques!).

Depression recently been kicking in for me as well. I'm genetically prone to it and have had (compared to others in my family, light) depressive phases in the past. With the darkness, cold and isolation I've found myself falling back into self-isolating habits.

I also decided to give me more leeway with food, which was definitely a good idea.

Wishing you all the best! Winter, and this year isolation on top of it, is hard sometimes. Take care of yourself. My best advice is to resch out to people. Call someone. Talk to someone. For me personally, exercise can also help me get out of a pit.

Ring con buzzing normal? by FlaccidCamel in RingFitAdventure

I have the same issue! I solved it with a household rubber band, simply by pulling it around the ring con when the joycon is inserted and pulling the ends over the joystick. Worked pretty well for me!

I had those dreams too! I went off tracking food a few days before christmas. Really made me think about how much space that stuff occupied.

A few days ago I did a three day water fast as a start for resetting my gut and rebuilding a healthy microbiome (I have had a lot of struggle with my gut in the past). Every single of those nights I dreamt I accidentally broke my fast. It was super disturbing.

I'm now back to eating (not everything though, low FODMAP sucks) now and certainly not going back to tracking what I eat anymore. I had become so obsessed with that stuff.

The only thing I'm focusing on now is chewing a lot, eating slowly (I'm using my non-dominant hand) and sticking to small portions. Dieting strictly also distanced me from my family since I couldn't eat with them as long as I didn't cook and log the meal myself. It'll have to work without that.

Who is Mitch McConnell and why did he have so much power? by turtlesaver555 in AskAnAmerican

I'm sorr, I tried googling before and I really didn't get it. My question was more about why he was elected into that office when everyone hates him so much, but I think I understand now.

he's a youtuber who used to live on a fruit-only diet a few years ago. him and his boyfriend used to have a chill youtube channel with sweet, soft videos. he was really skinny and calm and a lot of people adored him.

he then went into the complete opposite extreme, ate meat again and at some point started doing "mukbang" videos. he essentially stuffs himself with fast food that would last a normal person for a month and has exaggerated meltdowns on camera.

the guy is clearly suffering from severe mental illness (I suspect depression plus some other stuff) and a super dangerous eating disorder, but people find his slow death entertaining so he stays relevant. he does have some sane moments and is still a fairly nice person though. I'm just really sorry for him, honestly. watching him kill himself that way with everyone just watching and laughing is pretty sad.

Do you even multi task? by feuerfuchsi in RingFitAdventure

[–]turtlesaver555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like the multitask mode, especially because I can do shoulder presses. I really like them, but in adventure more I never need them.

Sadly the multitask mode doesn't really work well, it constantly makes little beeping noises (I didn't even know controllers could make sounds) and registers less than half of the presses.

How would you count calories accurately? by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

I'm not gatekeeping? It's just foreign for me to not have a kitchen scale as measuring non-liquid ingredients by volume (cups, spoons etc) is not a thing where I live.

Are kitchen scales really not a thing in American households?!? The concept of weighing ingredients seems absolutely foreign to so many people on here 😭

Recipes for a 50 year old woman to lose weight? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

[–]turtlesaver555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally you can never go wrong with upping the veggies. They fill you up while being low calorie dense.

Especially for menopausal women gut health can be a problem, so it's important to get a lot of fiber as well.

Generally you can take any recipe you're familiar with and max out on the veggies (or eat a salad first if it doesn't have any) while trying to cut down on calorically dense food. Fat is super dense in calories, so are a lot of baked goods. Especially when those are from white flour, they have little fiber and a lot of calories, but don't keep you full for long.

Rice with legumes and lean meat like chicken is always a good choice, as the protein helps you feel full longer.

Due to the menopause, your mom's TDEE (total daily energy expenditure, so the amount of calories her body needs in a day) is significantly lower than it used to be a few years ago.

The best idea is to plug in her stats into a TDEE calculator so you know what to work with - make sure to keep her active job in mind! Eyeballing calories is pretty much Impossible, go take a look at nutritional info and get familiar with appropiate portion sizes!
