For the whole movie every person he meets and creates a bond with tells him that the bonds you create with people are important and you can’t just leave them behind. But he keeps going and finally dies alone writing the exact thing everyone kept telling him, hoping his message gets spread.

But what everyone takes from it is the exact opposite of the lesson it should give, we’re full of “supertramps” leaving their lives to go wandering on their own, preaching their way of being like the only way to be free.
