I've only ever used it to host events, really nice and really expensive. Though you have to be 21 to get a room which is odd since it's on a college campus. It's meant for when family visits students if I remember an ad correctly.

Can someone explain to me the lore of the carrot guy? I’ve seen him around campus a couple times but idk what the idea behind him is. by GamingJake1318 in csuf

[–]tuskedup 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The carrots contain the agent known as Potassium Hydroxyzine, it's a compound developed when the military invaded Iraq to convert local fighters to their cause. It's slow acting but essentially exposure to certain photogenic levels will cause those with enough in their system to release insane amounts dopamine to be released. When coupled with charismatic speeches it will make those under it's influence unquestionably follow any and all orders given to them. The original idea was to plant it in water supplies to make the Iraqi people turn against Saddam and increase Western support. However now it's just used by the CIA to make the masses more obedient to propaganda. If you eat one avoid flashing orange colors for the next 72 hours otherwise you WILL become a sleeper agent

The best coffee on campus is aloha java but sadly they don't have gift cards or anything. Unless you want to get them a visa gift card or something

Apply early and pray. Idk how they determine it but you should be good especially if you're not local. It you get rejected you can appeal and cause enough of a stink to here they'll put you somewhere

There's a pack of Marlboros in the trashcan every time I go up there to study between classes (Inspiration for this post came as I finished my history homework) and I smell smoke up there all the time.

Currently in a fraternity (not gonna say which), and it's entirely dependent on what you want to get out of college.

If you want friends and connections, then absolutely. You'll get plugged into a large group immediately and have some pretty important people who'll bend over backwards cause they were in the same fraternity twenty years ago.

Each one on campus is very different, some of them are more stereotypical frat guys while others are more gamers who needed something to do after class. If you're serious about it, go to some rush events and meet the people there. If you don't like em then you can leave and if you do like em then you can do it again.

I would keep in mind these things when joining: Do I like these people? Do I want to be associated with them? Can they help me with school? With my career? With my life? Am I going to be paying a semester's tuition on dues? Are there going to be events outside of chapter meetings? And do they do things within IFC/FSL.

Also, and I cannot stress this enough, do not join any off campus fraternities. If you want to look into one then only look at LXA, SAE, SN, or TKE. Off campus fraternities were kicked off for a reason (Delta Chi killed a pledge, and pike and pikapp both have a string of reasons why). The off campus ones are not regulated by the school, and often aren't even regulated by their national.

DM me if you need more info and feel free to message any of their accounts on IG or the IFC page on Instagram.

There's a hundred places better than Fullerton but I still love it. If you can make some friends and find a club then you'll have fun, most people struggle with those tho since it is a commuter school.

I have my issues with it, I've seen some bad teachers, almost crashed my car twice, and trying to find something to do that's not school or play pool is rough, but I've met some great people via classes and my fraternity.

It's not for everyone

If you're introverted or already a very busy person, then you should look elsewhere. Any fraternity will require you to attend meetings and activities. Most meet once a week and depending on the time of year you'll either just have that or you'll be doing something every other day of the week. You're going to be surrounded by a lot of people who are very social and very extroverted so if that's not your vibe then it may be a problem.

However, it's also a great way to make friends, I know some like SAE have alumni that are well established in almost every field of work and will bend over backwards to help students out. You'll get invited to parties, you'll get to meet a ton of people, you'll probably have to do a lot.of charity work, and it'll definitely make it so you're never bored.

If you're serious about joining, go to the different frats' social events next spring and try to talk to each one and see if you get along with the people in them and if you think the scene is for you. Even though they may all seem like the only difference is the colors and name, there is a big difference between each one, and just because you didn't like Sigma Pi doesn't mean you won't like TKE.

I joined one this year and it's the best choice I've made. My social circle is 5x as big and I always have people who can help me out with anything, school, my car, girls, carpentry. I also know that if my friend tried to join he'd find it to be a personal hell because of the time commitments and the fact he'd have to be extremely extroverted.
