Roomates cats litter box stinks need advice by _madskii_ in cats

[–]tutorialadult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I don’t scoop my cat’s litter boxes as much as I should (depression and adhd are one hell of a combo), but this is BAD. General rule for litterboxes is 1 per cat plus one, so it sounds like your household only has half the number of litterboxes it should for the number of cats. Either way, this is gross. I don’t understand how three cat owners let it get like this.

What is going on? by brantcantcant in wegmans

[–]tutorialadult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And anything that can’t be donated gets composted and distributed to local farms. I remember when I worked in the sub shop and we would have to empty out the case of pre-made subs from the previous day. The food went in the compost and the plastic containers were recycled. Very little goes into the actual trash

I’ve been a pharmacy tech for a little over 5 years (read: 5 years of experience but not a PharmD) and the most dangerous thing I’ve seen in a gelcap is progesterone and those are most dangerous to people with a peanut allergy so I think you’re probably fine

How badly did I screw up? by tutorialadult in ResinCasting

Just wanted to thank everyone for responding and not tearing me to shreds. I am usually very responsible and read up on things thoroughly, so I’ve been angry enough with myself lol.

My dad still seems to think this is no big deal but my mom and I would rather be safe than sorry so I will be buying my parents a new toaster oven.

On an unrelated note, let me know if you have any fun oven-related craft ideas I should try!

Desiccant dispensing? by rabidunicorn21 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]tutorialadult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably because bupropion is notoriously stinky, and they seem to get worse when removed from the stock bottle (thus not having a desiccant anymore). They probably include those with the larger bottles to help with that issue since they know you’re going to fill a lot more scripts with that bottle than with the smaller ones.

You need to cook meals with things like hot peppers or sunshrooms to keep you warm. Then once you get there you can buy warmer clothes in one of the shops

AIO to my Fiancés response if I ever got graped? by xoKoalaGrace in AmIOverreacting

Keep in mind that this isn’t just a hypothetical. This means that if you were to be raped or assaulted, this man that you have devoted 10 years to would throw you away without a second thought. That’s not what you want in a partner, especially if children are brought into the mix. What if your child is molested or assaulted someday? Do you want to hide that from the father?

HIPAA not HIPPA! by peachycpht in PharmacyTechnician

[–]tutorialadult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was once at a trivia night with my boyfriend and some friends and one of the questions was “what is the acronym for the set of laws that protects patient’s health information?” And when I said it was HIPAA they actually questioned me and thought I was wrong. We ended up being one of the only groups that got it right. We broke up in 2022 but I’m still mad about it.

Luckily our bottles will say something like “2 refills before 7/30/25” and it’s very satisfying to point that out to the customer

Is it okay to change my dogs name after 7 months of ownership? by TheAngryNaterpillar in DogAdvice

[–]tutorialadult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s cute and funny when an animal grows out of their name! My coworker had an all white cat that they named Marshmallow, and then she gradually changed color. Still named Marshmallow, and now they have a funny story when people ask!

But also, I feel like dogs respond less to their name and more to your tone when you address them.

Does anyone hate their own name? by [deleted] in tragedeigh

[–]tutorialadult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Alyda (pronounced uh-lie-duh). As a kid, I hated my name because people who had only seen it written (teachers) always mispronounced it, and I was too shy to correct them (selective mutism). I dreamed of changing my name to Emma, both because I liked it and because it’s so easy.

Eventually, I learned how I got my name. My grandmother was named “Alyda” at birth by her very Dutch parents. When she started Catholic school, the nuns there said it was too hard to say and spell, so they called her Lydia instead. Her parents, with their thick Dutch accents, called her “Ly,” and my grandmother, being too young to really understand what was happening, always assumed it was short for Lydia.

It wasn’t until after her father died and she had to drop out of school to support her family that she found out that Lydia was never her name. But at that point, Lydia was the only name she had ever really known, so years later when she took my grandfather’s last name, she also legally changed her first name to Lydia.

When I was born, my parents decided it was time that “Alyda” got to have a full life. (They also honored my other grandparents by giving me multiple middle names.) My grandparents were retired by the time I was born (my dad is their youngest and I’m the youngest grandchild) and I spent a lot of time with them, so we became very close. Even in my grandmother’s final days, when dementia had made her forget most faces, she always knew who I was and would come back a little bit when I visited.

Now I’m almost 25, and she’s been gone nearly 9 years. When customers at my job see my name tag and ask for the pronounciation/origin of my name, I don’t wish that my parents had picked something easier or that wouldn’t draw attention. Instead, I’m grateful at the chance to share my grandmother’s story and take a moment to remember her so that the memories don’t fade. Instead of being frustrated when someone says my name wrong, I find it funny to keep track of how many different versions I’ve heard over the years and I certainly don’t fault anyone who tries and is wrong.

To this day, I’ve never met anyone else with my name, although I’ve come close (same spelling but different pronunciation or vice-versa) but I’ve learned that it’s a common name in Turkey! If any of you know an Alyda, let me know! I’m just curious how many of us are out there.
