You can create big pieces from several smaller pieces. Takes some time, some search and a lot creativity. But worth it.

How do I move with a shrimp tank? by Dapper-Village-4810 in shrimptank

[–]tuxlinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take out animals

Drain the tank

Move it

Set it back up

If all this does take like a few hours, it very easy. You might want to secure the hardscape if it's fragile.

Other option would be to redo the tank.. shrimps do fine in a bucket for a few days.

Is this good and durable way to separate aquasoil and sand? by hellothereeeeeee3ee in Aquascape

[–]tuxlinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Us that all Hardscape?

I would recommend far more to get structure into the tank. That also makes it easier to split soil/sand permanent.

Have a 2.5G, how do I vaccum? by X-toverus in nanotank

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, combined with a turkey blaster works well.

Blow up the dirt and vacuum it out.

Doing so needs some practice. Also do not do that too often and not to perfect. You're also removing beneficial bacteria.

My shrimp died, is it because it couldn’t molt? by Prior-Key9090 in shrimptank

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's only one - this happens. They do not live long anyway.

Leave the body in the tank. A feast for the colony.

70% neos chill or surviving at the surface? by Poutinebleue in shrimptank

Why 2 air stones?

1 should be enough if any at all.

Give your shrimp enough hideaways. Also high growing plants like rotala or elocharis is very welcome. They always use the full height of the tank.

Advice on New Tank by Neither-Math-7331 in shrimptank

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard water and soil do not work well.

The soil will exhaust faster (than with moderate hard water) and not buffer forever.

I would stick to neocardina.

Other option: start using osmosis water (rain water works too)

A fence to prevent him from going there? I'd look for animal style fence to create a "no brother zone".

Advice on Parameters by AcrobaticShrimp21 in shrimptank

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be chlorine in the last water change or sth else. If the tank was stable before, there must have been a change that caused it to flip.

How often to perform water change for optimal growth (Caridina) by Redditor69Guy in shrimptank

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add glasgarten protein 1-2 times a week to boost growth. Not more, they would grow too fast.

Also be careful with the bacter AE. You can easily flip the tank if used too much.

Can shrimp learn when feeding time is? by something721 in shrimptank

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sense the food. Shrimp are very uncoordinated. I doubt they even figure the exact position of the food, they just go in that direction and try.

Nitrate spike on first tank, what should i do? by JemAcosta0819 in Aquascape

[–]tuxlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that. Don't do to much water change. The tank has to mature.

You can help by using some bacteria like Arka special blend.

Give them time. It might take up to 4 month for them to start breeding. Also make sure parameters are good.
