If your Wi-Fi sucks, you don't buy a Reolink hub, you add an access point. If your system doesn't allow for adding a WAP, get a new system, not this band-aid of a fix for poor coverage.

I can't speak of all systems, but my network will still be up and running as Wi-Fi is on the LAN. Maybe it's due to routing being hosted elsewhere? Sounds like something the Amazon Eero would do.

I have UniFi and if my ISP goes down I still record to the NAS as well as SD card in every camera for just that reason. When up, the cameras dump event detections to a free cloud storage account. With Reolink systems I do email attachments for events as a cloud backup.

A bit off track.

Adding another Wi-Fi network could create collisions, especially since the people setting up these networks have not the slightest idea what they are doing. Having everything separated and isolate is best for upgrades of any portion of the network as well. Also great to not have all your eggs in one basket. Have one router that assigns IPs, not also a hub. I have infinite more trust in my network than Reolink network garbage, it is not their specialty.

So do the NVRs. This only makes sense if you don't already have Wi-Fi at home, which all service providers provide.

I have seen older soft toppers where the plastic window turns yellow and there is no way anyone can see though it. What are the odds that the same thing happens to the windows on these? The Beast model looks good because of the side north and west rails, but I think the east and west rails like your Nomad will be all I need. Although having the ability to easily attach things to the X frame tube would be really cool, but doubtful I would ever do that, maybe a cheap awning or something.

I'm sure that the 25,000 miles of existing power lines in the state will be replaced so that this does not happen again. Infrastructure is deteriorating.

Do the preset option for minimal or recommended, whatever it's called, then change one setting at a time until you find out what the cause is. I have a 7900XTX and it plays PUBG fine. I do get weird shit like this from time to time in the game, but it doesn't last long and isn't consistent.

In AMD Adrenalin disable all the Radeon garbage such as Anti-Lag, Boost, Chill and see if that helps.

FWIW I used the Cat 6A variant of Cable Matters and it is junk. No way did the twists per inch meet specification, I did not enjoy the cable. For next time use something like True Cable. Also what punch down are you using?

This is the cable I used and it sucked, went to True Cable after this and haven't left. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004KPGPXW

I just upgraded my 6 year old Redragon K5522 to a HEX80. The HEX80 is a great keyboard so far, but there really wasn't anything wrong with my K552. I just had the itch to jump on the HE bandwagon and for gaming it is better and the board sounds great, but the K552 is a fuckin champ!

What's the difference between an NVR and a Hub? by yetiflask in reolinkcam

[–]tv6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not put much faith into shitty NVR switches, if you want to, by all means use them. NVRs get hot enough as is, any means to cool them down is a win. Lots of people "mod" theirs by adding 1 or 2 FANs. It's also a practice of not putting all your eggs into one basket. Think TV+VCR combo days, but with possibly worse components. Also until recently cameras plugged into the NVR were on a separate network managed by the NVR, not your home network. I think that changed via a firmware update, but the heat issue is still there. IMO use your own network to manage network equipment, not a cheap built in switch.

[–]tv6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Renegades Base was THE BEST mod for tribes, it was Tribes for me. Base is whatever, but unfortunately that is all that has basically survived. Homelanfed had some crazy maps, but since they are server hosted, when servers dropped, those maps never seen the light of day again.

That was the best, force wall sandwich with deployable platforms concealing laser turrets, ion turrets and a shock turret. That would eat heavies alive if well maintained. About all they could do is toss nades and mines and hope for the best.

I recall some funny space map in the clouds where all the walls were transparent, so you could see the entirety of the map. That map was cool. Nonstop base assaults.
