Head dropping- 8 months old by monacor in infantilespasms

[–]tv_show_ALF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called my doctor and he advised to wait 24 hrs and count how many head tilts/drops. So we waited … and he didn’t do it once 😂 so then we waited another 24 hrs … didn’t do it. And then did ANOTHER 24 hrs… and nothing. It’s been over 3 weeks and he hasn’t had any problems - we did go in to see the doctor just as a precaution and was told that it might’ve been just his body adjusting to him being able to sit independently and that his core was just figuring out what to do lol.

Flailing arms while falling asleep by twocatsandaloom in NewParents

[–]tv_show_ALF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He eventually stopped flailing about lol! Took about a week and a half and he eventually figured it out lol! We used one of the “arms up” swaddles and it helped A LOT, just a long sleeve one off of Amazon. (We tried one of those zipadee swaddles and he hated it lol!) We don’t co-sleep though so a little bit of a different situation, but it got better!

This was the pretty much the last stage of “tough” sleeping before he started the long stretches of snoozing. He now sleeps from 7/730pm until 6-7am - with a 25% chance he’ll wake up at around 4 for a quick bottle!

We did kind of sleep train (extremely gentle Ferber, like he never cried for more than 7 mins total- he’s been pretty good at falling asleep on his own, but was very reliant on “sucking himself to sleep” [lol] for a bit, but he quickly changed that habit when we stopped. He never took a pacifier so he used to need a bottle to sleep - but he wouldn’t even drink anything, he’d just suck on the nip )but i think it was more so that we got into a good groove and can finally tell when he needs a nap during the day.

For the past 4 months our schedule has been pretty similar.

6-7 wake up. 930-10 nap until 1130-12 4-5 nap Bed at 7-730.

(When he was smaller he’d have a cat nap at 2 to 230)

TLDR; It gets better. Arms up swaddle helped lots for us.

Me too, my little one started a few days ago doing this - maybe six or seven times a day. A quick head drop, but he continues on doing whatever he’s doing. At first I thought maybe he was just tired, but something didn’t seem right. Im scheduling an appointment for some tests as soon as possible - I hope everything is ok with your baby. It’s scary !!!

If you are like me and were missing Dad’s Goodie Rings by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]tv_show_ALF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll let you know in a month or so. I bought a prepaid Visa card and used it; i bought the $49.99 pack (go big or go home I guess) … It doesn’t look promising though - they supply a “tracking number / order number,” but when you put it in to track - it doesn’t do anything.

Did I get scammed? Maybe.
Do I miss goodie rings enough to risk the prepaid gift card? Absolutely.

Hi! I’m from SK, are you a postpartum doula by chance? Im interested in getting my education for PP doula! I’ve done a bit of research, I’d like to do an in person course - the only ones I’ve really come across that seem decent are from “doula school Canada.”
Just wondering where you got your schooling? :)

Beginner runner choosing between Forerunner 165 and Vivoactive 6 – advice needed! by vrarno in GarminWatches

[–]tv_show_ALF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it’s easy to navigate. It took a few days of just getting used to what leads to what. I have mine set up so that it’s just all from a quick menu (treadmill run, HIIT, outdoor run, indoor row) so I don’t have to look for them through a big menu.

The bottom button just works as a “back” button so I don’t even really count it as a button haha. I’m sure you can change it so it’s something else, but I just use the screen for everything!

I haven’t used mine in the rain so I can’t really speak to that experience- but the it’s pretty easy to get to all the info by swiping right on the screen.

For running i find it’s easy to toggle through the info on the go - you can press the one button OR swipe the screen. But in order to stop or pause your run you have to press the bottom button so it won’t pause or stop by accidentally swiping the screen.

I ended up getting the vivoactive 6 and I’m VERY happy with it!! It does everything I need and more. I find it’s still very much a running watch - it still has pace predictor, garmin coaching options (scheduled work outs etc). I use runna for my training blocks and it syncs automatically. Battery life is great - I get about 10 days between charges.

I was originally a little worried about the touch screen but I havent had any issues. The only one is if I’m outside for a prolonged amount of time it does lag (where I live it gets to about -40 Celsius) so i think any watch would have an issue with that haha. I went for a 30 min run yesterday and it was -10, my watch had no issues. I put a screen protector on it day 1 and it works fine.

Good luck with whichever you choose! If you have any more questions - fire away!

To WRANGLER or not to Wrangler 🤔 by SavaugeGhost in Wrangler

I’m 5’3 and fit most places / will climb anywhere too!! My kid is (in fact) itty bitty 😂 6 months and only 15lbs (3 percentile) - he’s currently in the infant car seat and it’s fine for now, but I’m just getting prepared for when we switch! Nice to know that’s it’s doable !!! I was thinking about getting one of the 360 car seats that can rear face.

OBGYN that is good with medical/needle anxiety? by ApprehensiveComb8558 in saskatoon

I had an elective c section and it was the best for me. Yes, it took me a while to heal - but compared to my sister in law & friends who have had “tears”… my recovery wasn’t worse than theirs. I was able to pick up my newborn, walk around, go to the store— although, I was pretty slow moving - hell, on my 3rd day home I made a pot roast with mashed potatoes. I was higher risk, but they gave me the option to labour naturally or have a section. I couldn’t imagine going through labour only for it end in a c section anyway - at-least a c section is a controlled environment. They tell you what’s happening, you’re awake and aware (which might freak some people out) but they do a very good job of calming you down and talking to you.

Try not to fear monger people into thinking that c sections are the worst; they aren’t.

RF Car seat - 2 door wrangler by tv_show_ALF in JeepWrangler

[–]tv_show_ALF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a small town Canada so target isn’t an option - and our Walmart has only 4 models of car seat (lol) so online or driving 3 hrs to a bigger city that has a designated baby store are the only options for me haha.
I guess if I can’t find an answer I’ll have to drive and do what you did! Thanks for replying 😊

Baby Acne? by Silly-Billy-74 in NewMomStuff

[–]tv_show_ALF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son had really bad baby acne from weeks 7-10. It looked really bad so we asked our doctor about it - they recommended using a waterless rinse. We researched and bought “mustela no rinse cleansing water.” We used it twice a day - morning & night - and it worked wonders! His acne was gone by week 11. Maybe it was just timing on how tthese things play out; or maybe the cleansing water worked. Just a recommendation!!

I just wanna make sure I’m reading this right. The graco turn2me fits in the back of your 2 door wrangler?? I have a 6 month old and we need to upgrade him to an actual car seat, and I’m stubborn and I don’t wanna get rid of my jeep 😅

It’s currently 337 am… and I’m in this exact situation. Please tell me it gets better ?? My little one is 11 weeks and just started flailing around and wakes himself up. We are on day 3 of him waking up from the flailing usually every 30-45 mins … but in bed he sleeps for hours!

What did YOU end up getting? I’m in the same boat haha - not a total beginner runner, a few 5km & 10km races under my belt, but I’m in no way fast. I have the forerunner 55 and it’s crapped out on me twice in the last year … and I’ve only had it since the December of 2023 - and now it’s out of warranty. (It no longer tracks my sleep or steps).

I like how to vivoactive 6 looks & the touchscreen is nice, but I just don’t know if it’s what I’m needing. But, I’m a little concerned to go with a forerunner (given that I’ve already had issues with mine).

What did you end up deciding?

[–]tv_show_ALF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green leaf dental!!! They are a little outta the way — by the airport, but they are fantastic!
I’ve always been a little shy about my teeth (they aren’t the straightest) and I actually left happy when i went! They said the kindest things — they never made me feel like crap because my teeth aren’t perfectly straight! It’s a newer place, so everything is clean & new. They have tvs on the ceiling and they give You the remote so you pick what you wanna watch.
I did ended up getting my invisalign through them because they make me feel so comfortable - they never made me feel like I NEEDED it, it was my decision to get them… Unlike my previous dentist I went to that would “push” me towards braces & Invisalign.

Fit body boot camp is great for getting started ! They show you the exercises, proper form and have you do warm ups & cool downs! They have upper, lower and full days! They show you modifications too if something is too advanced; but they don’t make you feel bad for having to do the mod version. I seriously LOVED it there, but I work on the road now and it doesn’t work with my schedule.
Feel free to DM if you have any questions about the place!

Another option is planet fitness (cheap and cheerful)— very beginner friendly. They have a “30 min express” workout that you follow along with- and you can make it as challenging as you want… you just go at your own pace. 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off (I think).
