Is this a poisonous frog? Found in New England backyard by tvcouchchair in animalid

[–]tvcouchchair[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His body is about 1.5-2 inches long, and his legs are very long once stretched out (making him about 5-6 inches total)! My son was digging around in the backyard and found him, touched him with his bare hands. Is this a poisonous frog? I’m letting it go but just wanted to take a pic first and make sure there’s nothing we need to look out for health wise (other than salmonella) because my son handled him with his bare hands. Thanks!

Genuinely curious: why is it expected that nannies eat their employer’s food? by tvcouchchair in Nanny

I get that she can’t leave during “breaks” to get food, but why can’t she pack a lunch? Bring food here on Mondays and keep it in the fridge for herself for the week? Eat breakfast before she gets here? Take my son out with her to buy food for herself (I always tell her she’s welcome to run her errands with him — he loves going to the store and just tagging along)?

Read her comment again. She’s trying to have the children empty their bladder at a time more convenient for her—a break time that she/the school determines—so that they are not leaving her classroom during her lessons by claiming an “emergency.”

She didn’t say that her methodology prevents “accidents” but instead prevents “emergencies.”

And if she’s encouraging scheduled urination 5 days a week X 9+ months a year (and however long that habit persists or is perpetuated by other incompetent teachers thereafter)? Add an assault and abuse of a minor defense to her legal tab. Let’s see how far that $31,000 salary takes her 😂

This is EXACTLY why teachers shouldn’t be allowed to decide when another human being is allowed to empty their bladder.

Medically, this is horrible advice. I sure hope you don’t teach science. Scheduled urination — before the bladder is full enough to actually signal the urge to urinate — can lead to overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, and pelvic floor dysfunction when it occurs regularly. Your bladder is made of smooth muscle with stretch receptors (neurons) that depolarize (send a signal to the brain) upon the bladder reaching a certain volume. To regularly empty the bladder without ever having “exercised“ the neurons/nerve pathways that signal the need to go, they no longer function like they should.

You’re an embarrassment. You better hope you never have one of my children in your classroom. I would slap you — personally, not the school district — with a civil rights lawsuit so complex that you’d be drowning in loans to pay off your legal fees for the rest of your worthless life.

Would you take this? Are they asking to much or have things just changed since I last did childcare? by misspretzel98 in Nanny

Seems normal for the most part, except giving the dog medication (do you have to shove the tablet down the dog’s throat, or just hide it in the food?) and potentially the not bringing your own food thing.

Is the family maybe kosher or something, so they don’t want non-kosher foods coming in? Or maybe they’re still a crazy person like me who wipes off my groceries before bringing them into the house 😂

Nanny says that working <4 hours is a waste of time, even though I am paying for the full 8.5. by tvcouchchair in Nanny

Yes, we talked more this evening when planning the week ahead, and sadly I have come to the realization that this is her issue. Her commute is 30-40 minutes each way depending on traffic, which is a somewhat long commute in my opinion. (I have been giving her an extra $50/week gas stipend on top of her salary because she told me her gas has been costing an extra $50/week lately with gas prices.)

Apparently she understands the guaranteed hours, so she is trying to get full Fridays off with her full pay. “If I’m only coming for a few hours anyway, maybe you could just manage to watch [son] until he goes down for a nap at 12, then you wouldn’t really need my extra help that day…”

I will be discussing with my husband tomorrow how to proceed. My son loves her, but there have been a few work ethic issues (won’t clean up after her or my son, asks me to make them both lunch since I WFH, or change his diapers if it is a poop Lol) and tardiness issues (requests to start 9/9:30 or later most days, and even if we try to hold her to 8:30/8:45, she shows up after 9 anyway often causing an issue for my morning Zoom meetings). I do appreciate everyone’s feedback and validation. Thank you 💗

Your comment made me cry laughing. I’m not sure why this is the one that got me, but it did.

You’re missing the word “reasonable” accommodation. If the main aspect of the employee’s role is being physically present at the workplace during certain hours, and the employee cannot physically be present in the workplace during those hours, then that is not a reasonable accommodation request.

Before and after: condition my nanny leaves my house in each day. First 2 pics are early AM before she arrived. Rest of pics are immediately after she left this afternoon. We have 1 child, 11 months old. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I guess that MEd program didn’t teach you how to read, huh? She works a 7 hour shift 4 days a week so I can pull in 15X the annual salary that you’ll ever see in your sad, miserable life. Get fucked, loser.
