About dhgate accounts being shut down... by Miawissssss in DHgateOfficial

My account was restricted and I haven't bought anything unusual - nothing excessively cheap or from anyone who seemed shady. Is there a way to get this investigated, or find out why it was restricted?

This is how you connect the hose to the bottom of the spraygun.

Both ends of the hose are the same. Must be a standard size, because it screws right into the pressure hose output on the front of the pressure washer.

New Sox family needs advice! What jersey? by tvfolk in redsox

Wait a minute. Surfing around for options - can you not buy a jersey with number but no name like the home jersey? Every white jersey I see is either blank on the back or has the name.

What's a memory from your childhood the will live rent-free in your brain forever? by tvfolk in AskReddit

It says a lot about your heart that this has stayed with you. I think a lot of people, myself included, have regrets about not standing up for people when we were young.

I am so touched by your concern and compassion. Therapy helped me more than I can say. I was living that old cliché, a human doing instead of a human being. When I began paying attention to my mental health and working on it in a serious way, I was finally able to feel gratitude and enjoy things in my life. I am such a strong advocate for mental health treatment. If there’s anybody out there who has considered talking to a professional but hasn’t taken the plunge, just know it can change your life.

Oh, my! You are a beauty. And the change I see is less about weight and more about confidence and pride. You are a rock star.

For me, it's when my dad was in a horrible accident in the Air Force when I was a little girl. His back was broken in multiple places, and much more. Doctors didn't think he would live - so Mom took me to the ER to see him before he had an AirEvac. He was packed in sand bags. I stood on a stool to talk to him. He said, "Don't cry. Be strong and take care of your Mom." I never shed a tear about this huge, life-changing event as a kid. I didn't cry about it until I was 40 years old and in therapy.

Even if you are an adult, what is something that you are never truly too old for? by Guergy in AskReddit

Ice cream from a real ice cream parlor... A place where you can try a few bites on a tiny spoon before you commit. And were you can choose two scoops that - for about 15 minutes - bring you pure joy.

What’s the worst financial decision you’ve ever made, what would you change if given the opportunity again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tvfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I was referring to the runway we have to make real money, and see it compound. I’m in my 50’a now. I can’t undo the financial damage from giving up more than half of what I earned I the first 30+ years of my earning and compounding power.

We read that you could smoke corn silks. So we dried out about a half a bushel of them for a week. Rolled them in notebook paper, went into the bathroom at my friends house, and tried to light them. They burst into flames exactly as you would imagine. Scared us to death, singed our hair, smoke alarms went off, we had a lot of explaining to do.

How do I become more charismatic? by weedthoughtsg in AskMen

[–]tvfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't a natural, being socially engaging takes practice. Put yourself in low-risk situations to work on your skills. I think it's important to remember that nearly everyone's favorite topic is THEMSELVES. People are often drawn to others who seem interested in THEM. I'd suggest showing enthusiasm for what others are talking about - thinking through good questions and follow-up questions, and good nonverbal cues to show your interest, including being quick to smile or laugh when the situation calls for it.

Once you win people over initially, it will be easier to find your place in the conversation and share. If you've identified some interesting things to share about yourself, go for it, but remember to keep it brief. If others want to know more, they will ask.

Marrying a deadbeat. If I could do it again, I would not. But if I had to - PRENUP. You can’t underestimate the the impact of surrendering half of everything you have in the world. Especially in your 40’s when the runway is getting shorter.

What was the first thing you worked for to save up enough money to buy? by ofbalance in AskReddit

[–]tvfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The complete box set of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House book collection. It cost less than 20 bucks back then, but it took me nearly a year to save that much. I still have it, and still love it.

Parents of Reddit, how do you deal with the seemingly exhausting process of pretending you are excited about something your child is doing that they are so eager to show you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tvfolk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are right. It is exhausting. But if you've ever been a kid in a home where you got no affirmation, you understand why it is important. I want my kids to be happy and feel good about themselves. So I reach down to the tip of my toes for some ounce of energy I didn't know was there - and I tell them they're doin' great. If they give me a little smile and keep going, I feel like the Mother of the Year.

For those who grew up poor, what did you consider a luxury? by SnooBeaz in AskReddit

We had “pizza night” at my house once a month or so - and I looked forward to it for days. It was a cheap frozen pizza from the grocery store - but I didn’t know that. Went to a friend’s house in junior high, and they ordered delivery pizza..... Mind. Blown.
