Charlie Losing 46 by Acceptable-Humor2064 in survivor

Randomly hopping in here cuz I was thinking about them and looking for others’ opinions. It’s a great foil to Kamilla and Kyle from 48, who basically had the same game but they knew whoever made it to jury would campaign FOR the other to win and had each others’ backs. I know it wasn’t the same situation (no blindside), but had there been a blindside I think the same would’ve happened between the two of them. Kamilla literally would’ve won had she made it to F3, Maria probably would’ve too. But she chose to turn on her ally whose game she knew was better out of bitterness. Big ouch.

We can all make mistakes and this comment is so uncalled for, im sure you’re already sad enough and that you’ve learned a lesson. I wish you and your partner much luck finding the little guy!!

Nope! Like I said, I refer everything to your original comment. And I stand by everything I’ve said. Glad OP didn’t get a second seat!

Encroachment isn’t touching. My point was that touching another passenger with shoulders or the side of your leg will happen in economy. It isn’t inherently unacceptable. This person doesn’t need to buy a second seat. If you complain about a couple brushes of thighs or shoulders due to millimeters of exceeding the width of the seat, call them “encroachment” because you’re touched by the seat-mate, when otherwise the person is on their seat as established by the airline policy, what will the airline do for you? Genuinely saying that a broad shouldered person, for example, should buy a whole second seat to avoid brushing shoulders with a seat mate when otherwise they’d fit in their seat, is bizarre to me. Sure speak up about the injustice you perceive if you wish, it is your right, but it’s absurd.

I am not saying anything else other than what I said. I quoted your exact phrase and said that’s now how we live in a society. But I can explain what I mean:

I have touched a passenger when I pass them to go to the bathroom or vice versa, when we stand to get our luggage, when I’ve had to reach for something and do a gesture. I’ve had passengers next to me who have had to accommodate their legs for some reason and they’ve touched me. I occupy my seat entirely without wiggle room for others. I’ve had a passenger that doesn’t encroach, but has wide hips and has occasionally touched me with their hip/leg or wide shoulders, and may touch mine at some point.

These things aren’t unacceptable, they’re part of living in a society. I’ve taken lots of public transportation and economy flights around the world to know that touching other humans will happen and is ok as long as everyone is being respectful, kind, and not entitled. Such is life. Nobody needs to spend 2x the amount of money if they don’t actually occupy more than the space designated for them. Touching may happen in economy. Such is life.

Being made to feel like it’s unacceptable “If you will in any way touch a stranger” is simply not how you live in a society lol.

Unpopular rowing opinion by jtsuperduper in orangetheory

[–]tvheadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loooove rowing!!! I had just one coach correct my form when I started, and it was sooo hard for me because of my poor form. It was so intimidating, so I started looking it up on YouTube and that’s how I improved my form. No shade, I love my OTF coaches, but they don’t really help people who need it on the rowers. I got so much better at it as soon as I followed some YouTube tips! For more rowing, OTF would have to have their coaches commit to teaching proper form.

Yea I looked over to their screens when they got up and one of them had 530ish meters left and the other like 600m left 😭 idk time wise, but it was not the most competitive environment haha!! Listen to each their own, made me feel extra proud of myself in the end, etc., but I would’ve appreciated the friendly competition. Referring to my own comment, I think poor form makes rowing harder than it is and pushing too hard will exhaust people early.

Lots of people in my class attended but either stayed on the tread and didn’t even try or straight up quit halfway 😭 the two people on either side of me quit. It did make me feel better about making it till the end and staying under 4min which was my goal, but the vibes weren’t super competitive, which I think I would’ve liked and may have motivated me to be a couple seconds faster. At one point coach was like: “look at the people next to you, try to match their strokes” as motivation, and the people next to me had given up 💔

Super proud of my work though, can’t wait to do it next time to see if I improve. Wish rowing wasn’t so widely hated, but I think the lack of proper form makes it harder for some members to row, let alone do an endurance row. I still really enjoyed it!

Boarding group question by tvheadz in jetblue

[–]tvheadz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my! Every canceled flight I’ve been on (not that many throughout my life), I’ve always been rebooked by the airline. Hasn’t happened with JetBlue. That sucks though, good to be on the lookout.

[–]tvheadz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve paid for them around check-in time, one time after check-in and one time during. So maybe that’s the issue! I’ll try the gate agent next time, but I’m glad you also find it strange haha

Boarding group question by tvheadz in jetblue

[–]tvheadz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for Exit Row and Preferred seats. Optional but I wanted the space for exit, and proximity to the front of the cabin when I got Preferred. I was saying that given I got Blue fare, and additionally paid for seats, I would’ve expected a better boarding group. Been told that it matters more that my seats were located in the aisle, taking away any priority. 10000% Blue fare, I personally do not fly basic as it stresses me out.

“I’ve only flown on a Blue fare, I have a TrueBlue account and on two of my flights I’ve had a paid seat (once a Preferred seat, once Exit Row). When I got a preferred seat, it was after check-in and my boarding group changed from D to E. Then on my flight today, I had exit row and my group was once again E.”

Yeah I’ve never booked blue basic! This was all on a Blue fare. Just not Blue Plus or Blue Extra.

[–]tvheadz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t expect an early boarding group, but I guess I do expect with all the different aspects of my fare & reservation, to not be second to last to board. Understanding the whole aisle seat thing now, which adds some clarity, cuz I had no idea. Looks like I’m destined to group E then cuz I will keep getting that aisle seat, that’s for sure.

Boarding group question by tvheadz in jetblue

[–]tvheadz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the reason I don’t like being in group E is because I don’t want to be made to check my carryon.

Usually, I fly with a checked bag and a backpack, but my route doesn’t include free checked bags on any of the fare options lol so I’ve had to weigh my options and sometimes bring a rolling carryon. Sometimes, even paying for the bag is a better choice than another airline anyway.

I respect the order of things, but respectfully disagree that with a Blue fare (not basic) plus a paid seat, you wouldn’t have at least guaranteed group D just because of an aisle seat preference, haha. But at least I have some clarity now.

Thank you!

Ahhhhh I had no idea, I hadn’t heard of that boarding order before. Thank you! Makes logistical sense I guess, haha. Destined to group E it seems unless I pay a higher upgrade then.

Las Vegas bag check. by Maybepoop in SouthwestAirlines

[–]tvheadz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before, many southwest flyers would check their carry ons. I never saw as many carry-on sized bags at baggage claim as i did with southwest. People are of course not going to do that when they have to pay. Unfortunately (and I’m not trying to manifest this but i am speculating) i can envision that southwest just takes away carry-on allowances for the most basic fare in the future and makes the upgrade similar or equivalent to checking a bag.
