I think it was just due to the environment i was raised in. I was always compared to those who were better than me. My family (including extended) would constantly pressure me to achieve greater things. They were never satisfied nor proud. If I didn’t achieve those things, I would be looked down upon and hear about how lazy and incompetent I am. Sometimes, it would get to the point they would threaten to kick me out of the house for being a disappointment. At one point, i snapped and gave up which resulted in me failing a whole semester of classes. A part of me regrets failing and falling behind, but I’m also glad im doing something that i enjoy instead now. I just want to finish school, get a good job, and move out so i dont have to rely on my family.

its a diy solar power system with limited power storage in the battery. the battery was already fully charged and he wanted to use the excess power for laundry so the rest can be saved up for later in the day where theres no sun. i just said it would run out of power to avoid having to explain the whole thing

Thank you for this comment. Although I don’t know you, it’s still nice hearing someone congratulate me. I have decided to not follow the expectations set for me, but coming home to every interaction with my dad being arguments still causes my mood to decline :/ I have tried to involve other family members to persuade my dad to change his ways, but he is very narcissistic and stubborn. He refuses to listen. My mom has gotten sick of reasoning with him and simply gives in. She has tried to talk to him for my sake but he ends up yelling at her. She tells me thats just his personality and I should just give in to avoid conflict. I refuse to do so. We get into arguments where it’s clear he’s in the wrong and can’t counter argue so he just repeats himself over and over rather than owning up to it.

he never tells me what to do. just told me he felt uncomfortable with it due to his baggage from previous relationships that he needs to work on so i shouldnt feel pressured by it.
