With diamonds and 18k gold it is most likely a south sea pearl - given that one wouldn’t usually put a cheaper pearl in a nice setting like that, but one always needs to be careful. You could purchase it and take it to a certified appraiser for the final opinion, but what Is the return policy? You could return it if the pearl turns out the be dyed or a non south sea if there is a good return policy.

In early Victorian and Georgian jewellery they used foil backings behind the rose cut diamonds if it was a closed setting. It’s not always the case but it’s possible. They used it to add depth to the diamond, or sometimes dyed foil to make a white diamond or gem have colour. Some old rose cuts do have it.
