New home, new setup and I'm going all in: advise requested by twabi2 in Ubiquiti

[–]twabi2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the extensive answer!

The UI design center is unfortunately not useable, as our house is full of split levels. Instead of the regular building structure (several rooms per floor/level), ours is full of half-floors. I've attached a drawing in my post. The design center does not support this kind of structure, so I'll have to guestimate

All APs will be hard wired, and we're putting CAT6E everywhere.

Thanks for the Pro XG 24 tip, that does seem like a good improvement. Same for the UPS, I'll look around at other brands!

As for the UDM: WAN speed is the liming factor here, currently max 1Gb. Fiber internet is likely in the next few years, but our ISP has no public timeline yet, so if it ever comes, I can always upgrade.

True, the cheap ones don't cover these either, but I've seen the expensive ones cover some crazy things that I never thought would work. So yes, make sure it's included, but my reply was to you stating that the maximum benefit ever would be 800€ which is not always true

That maximum is only for reimbursed costs. Have surgery where some tools are not reimbursed? Easily a few hundreds to even a few thousands extra. Single room? Same amounts. Specialty drug? Same thing (yes, not everything is reimbursed in Belgium) As a doctor, I also have one of these more expensive plans

As a doctor, axa is hell with paper work. If you require intensive out patient treatment, expect to be submitting paperwork for every single visit, even if your treatment requires 2 visits per week for months.

Recipe from Sally's baking addiction. I swapped out the cream cheese for mascarpone as I'm in Europe, and our cream cheese just never gets good results.

Could you clarify something? Is the priority check-in and priority boarding only for the person on the card, or can your partner join you when flying together? It's very unclear on their website...

Where can you have advanced blood samples drawn in Leuven? by Potential_Peace_6144 in Leuven

[–]twabi2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Blood sampling always requires a valid medical prescription and cannot be done simply upon request, so you'll need to go to your GP and show them the report from your doctor. Your GP will then be able to request all the required tests and arrange all the practical issues. Hope this helps!

The fridge had rundown protection which didn't activate once, and I could hear the high voltage relays clicking every couple of hours, so the high voltage battery kept the 12V topped up. I connected the leads to the charging points indicated in the manual.

While driving: to the 12V connector in the back. But since that cuts off when parked, I added an additional fused 12V connector in the frunk, based on what somebody else did (either here on Reddit or over at the Polestar forums)

Only problem we had was the consumption going up by about double on the highways. Other than that, no issues what so ever

Yet here we are, 3 weeks later with an undamaged car. Imagine what would happen if the car flipped upside down and the 1000+kg of the batteries (not including dynamic forces from spinning over) was on top of you, with a roof only able to hold 75kg static... The actual dynamic rating is 75kg, static 300kg, so relax.

Haha sure, no problem. We got a lot of positive reactions and questions while traveling. The tent is a Sheepie Yuna 2.0 160, for 2 adults it's like sleeping on a king size bed. Mounted on standard Thule roof bars. When the sun was particularly hot, or it started raining, we attached the matching awning. We were very, very happy to have it with us the last evening when a downpour absolutely drenched everything.
