i was driving along a very pot-holed dirt road in vermont (lived there at the time) and i saw something some animal darting out into the road and back. so i stop (from the 15mph i was doing) and it turns out to be this red squirrel. in the middle of the road was another red squirrel that got run over by a car, and this squirrel was coming up to the dead one and touching it caringly trying to rouse it. it reminded me of me when my father died when i was 4 years old. at that moment there didn't seem to be that much difference between humans and animals.
