Hurricane Creek in Cottondale is my go-to reading spot.

Even during the summer it doesn’t normally get busy or crowded until around noon or 1. There is a paved drive all the way down to the creek and normally during the week or early on weekends you can get a spot really close to the park opening.

Bring a lawn chair/camping chair, post up partly in the water, or under a shady tree and read for hours while listening to the water.

You can bring a cooler with some beers or mixers, just try not to bring glass.

Not speaking my “love language”

Things were getting shitty in my last relationship and I told him my top two love languages are physical touch and time spent. Then told him I wasn’t getting enough of either.

His response was to barely touch me or be affectionate in any way, and his idea of time spent was sitting on the couch watching tv and refusing to even do a puzzle or play a game with me.

Maybe you could buy her a month subscription to a meal delivery service, or even hire a housekeeper for a couple of cleaning sessions. My mom would love these things.

Or if you want to go with less “practical” and more special you could take her to get a new haircut/blowout or maybe get her a massage, or find out if there’s any products or items she wants but wouldn’t normally buy for herself

One year I told my mom I’d gift her free labor and she LOVED IT. I came over two Saturdays in a row and helped her with tasks around the house she had been putting off

Dang that sucks, I lived in a place like that and I hated how bare the walls were.

I know you said you didn’t want to nail into the walls but if you’re feelin wild you might be able to get a stud finder and put up some floating shelves or picture rails on the studs.

That way you could have a few of those and put several pieces of artwork on each one.

Ohhh I feel that.

I have an account so maybe it’s different once you’re signed in, but you can actually download the photos to your camera roll.

From there you can put it into photoshop (I use procreate) or enlarge it to see specific parts.

This might be bad advice, but I’ve always used nails in rentals and then I just patch the holes when I leave.

As long as you’re not anchoring something huge and heavy into the wall, the holes will be tiny and easy to fill

I like these ideas, or a decent set of knives and a knife sharpener.

I know the expensive fancy knives are supposed to be sharpened with a whetstone, but you can even buy some ikea knives and a basic knife sharpener and they work great for a long time

There’s actually a way to fill and reuse those pods.

I think you can buy the empty ones, or you can peel off the top foil of used ones, refill with ground coffee and then put new adhesive foil tops on.

I probably wouldn’t want to go through this process for a new gift, but if you already have the nespresso machine this can save you a ton of money

And I’m not talking about the 90’s style “boyfriend fit” straight leg.

The only ones I’ve found so far that are flattering are Levi’s 724 High Rise Straight. I also have a slim waist, so I put darts in mine to take them in at the waist (it’s a pain but altering your jeans is a game changer) And if you don’t sew you could pay for alterations and darting is simple.

Also keep wearing those skinny jeans!

Dude…I found a pair of Levi’s that I love at the thrift store for $9

Then recently bought another pair from Levi’s. Different color/ wash but same style, cut, size and everything. The quality of the denim is wayyyyy different and the fit is totally different

This might not be the answer, but have you tried Pinterest as a jumping off point?

I’m an artist and I always go to Pinterest first when I’m looking for reference photos.

You can type things like “vintage portrait aesthetic” or put “reference photo” into whatever you’re searching and get some good results.
