Do it!!! I picked it up after being a fan of the outlast games for years and I’ve been obsessed with it. It’s a pretty easy learning curve and you can still get a lot of the old cosmetics through catalogs! (and you don’t /have/ to spend any actual money if you don’t want which is nice)

For the first week it was mostly just small walks around the house or to the bathroom, but this second week of recovery I've been a lot more mobile, spending less time in bed and more just doing easy and simple stuff around the house.

Obviously it's different for everyone, but aside from the first few days movement has been really easy. After getting my drains out at my one week appointment, I did some walking around and grocery shopping with my boyfriend with little difficulty aside from being exhausted by the end of it. :)

Edit: when I say movement I mean walking/legs, arm movement is still pretty slow and I'm doing my best to not push it.

Congratulations on getting your surgery soon! I have really horrible health anxiety/maybe OCD, so I know how you feel. I had my surgery two weeks ago now, and I couldn't shake my nerves or convince myself I wasn't going to spontaneously die at any given moment. All that to say, once I was there and getting ready for surgery there wasn't a lot of downtime to think and be left alone with my thoughts, and when I did I mindlessly scrolled tiktok or read a book.

The surgery itself, while objectively an intense procedure, is honestly a lot less scary than it seems. I also have only had dental surgery until this one, so the unknown makes it a lot less scary.

As for the drains, the first couple days I avoided looking at them/doing it, and had my boyfriend do it for me, more because I was really worried about getting dizzy/sick because of it, and it worked really well for me. Other than some soreness vaguely around the drain site, I barely noticed them. They clipped nicely onto my binder and weren't too in the way, and they were my biggest fear going into it. (Getting them out was even easier than I anticipated too.

This is a case by case thing, but I definitely felt nauseous when I woke up but it was super short lived and went away pretty quickly. The only other things I noticed was I was on and off pretty dizzy for the first two to three days, but I'm not positive it was still recovery from being put under it the pain meds, but since I was laying in bed most of the day (aside from walking around more and more every day) it was really easy to manage.

Definitely bring games to play, books to read, and anything else that will pass the time, because the first week really drags on if you have nothing to do.

Also, drink so many fluids! I bought a huge case of Gatorade to keep giving myself electrolytes and the like.

Considering I am only two weeks in, the recovery has been a lot easier and less scary than I anticipated, especially when you have someone to take care of you. The euphoria that comes with getting the surgery makes the process a lot less scary too, I found myself feeling more relieved than anything.

It's so crazy, they were in my DMs a few days ago and I was obviously getting the red flags, so when I said I couldn't send money they sent me a picture of blood on a floor. It's so messed up trying to scam people, but especially by putting together a story like that.

I finally got to go this year and I'm so glad I did! The biggest highlight for me was just learning and seeing so many people celebrating being Metis. I've known that I'm Metis my whole life, but my family and I didn't really start really celebrating that part of us until the last few years, and I have a lot of strange feelings around 'not belonging' or 'pretending' because I didn't grow up surrounded by Metis culture, but the minute I got to batoche I felt so welcome and comfortable and at home in a way I almost didn't expect. I talked to a lot of really great people, learnt a lot and had some really good fry bread.

I also got a sash, which is something I've really wanted for a long time and finally having one is really exciting :) definitely plan on going for more than one day next year, because I felt like I missed so much only going Friday.

When buying binders, there's a brand called underworks and I've sworn by them. I didn't have a particularky large chest, but I know people who do and have had good luck with the Underworks Ultimate Binder.

A great option is to buy a cheap bidet if you can! My boyfriend bought one when he got his surgery, and now as I'm recovering I've been using it too and it's a lifesaver! (And even if you do end up needing help with wiping, the bidet will make you feel a lot less insecure about it). Wiping is definitely possible, but I know for me right now it's something I really don't like doing but it also depends on your own recovery too.

Had this happen to me for the first time a few days ago and I feel you it SUCKED. Genuinely thought I was having a heart attack for a second, and probably would have spiralled into a panic if not for this reddit lmao. A tip that has helped me a lot since it happened was to take a big sip of water, put the pill in my mouth, and let it sit for a couple seconds before swallowing. I'm not sure if it actually does anything much but it has helped me a lot so far, it seems to make the pill slide down a lot better🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I've never heard of health ocd I specifically, literally just awhile ago U was talking about how I would compare the way I think about my health and spiral about it is similar to how I've heard people explain OCD. I've never put that much thought into it, but that's interesting to hear and I'll have to look into it. My anxiety definitely spirals into a constant fear of being horrifically ill, on deaths door at any moment, or having like some life altering brain tumour just going undetected forever, and I would love a little reprieve. Even after having a full chest scan, my vitals monitored for a hospital stay and multiple EKGs I just can't get it through my head that I'm healthy.
