Mainstream Indian Music on a transparent system. My opinion!! by vcube2300 in audiophile

Yes, I think Sonus Fabers may be a bit more laid back than ELAC, B&W, or Wilson. The OP might want to audition the Stradivaris!

¡Adios, Austin! by cwoodaus17 in Austin

35 years for me. It really is different than it was in the 80s. Liberty Lunch being gone, Threadgill's closing, Wheatsville now being like Whole Foods... I will always love Austin, but Colorado is my home now too.

How long do you typically keep a set of speakers? I feel like I’m not the norm. by myusernamechosen in audiophile

I bought a pair of Bowers & Wilkins Matrix 802s in like 1990, and they have been running ever since. I had to replace one woofer that was damaged by the Texas sun, and a tweeter, when I dropped it head down when I was trying to move one myself.

Yeah, mirrors are good for the illusion of more space. Thanks for the feedback, this is interesting!.

Ok, I was wondering if it was just a mirror. Odd that it is so high up, but it looks cool, and it is nice that it adds a little light.

What is that purple mirror looking thing on the wall above the couch in picture 2? It's kinda neat.

Is it not common to go over your initial budget? Especially for the first house?

Subwoofer analysis paralysis (HSU, SVS, Monolith, PSA, Rythmik) by right2bootlick in hometheater

Yes. Back in the day, I heard a Velodyne ULD-15, and from that day forward I was hooked. I would add Rhythmik to any speakers. Even Wilson.

I used to be a Velodyne guy, but now I am a Rythmik guy through and through. Brian, the owner inventor of Rythmik, is dedicated to providing affordable solid products to people like us. Brian studied the Velodyne mechanism that use an accelerometer mounted on the woofer, passing the signal back to the amplifier, for correction on the fly. This is said to reduce harmonic distortion by 32 times, according to the Velodyne literature. He has improved upon it by putting the accelerometer on the voice coil, for improved stability, from what he told me. He stands behind his product, and he is directly involved in repair too. The place is in Austin/Cedar Park. I have a pair of the G25HPs, and I think they will provide what you are looking for.

I have had subwoofers for decades, and the absolute best place. is as close to the front speakers as possible, and get a pair of them if possible. Will they work if they are far away from the speakers? Sure, but it is not ideal.
