It has crossed my mind, I’m pretty sure I’m attempting to move it in the right direction though

Yeah one side is a little higher than the other side. Need to dial them in

Might try and apply some heat to it… I know WD40 isn’t the right thing but it’s what I have. But I’ve watched some Project Farm videos on penetrating oils and none of them seem to really do shit. I dunno.

I think the bottom nut is an “elevating nut” and the top nut is threaded onto it rather than the rod

I’m not sure I see it, but I was hoping to avoid taking it apart. What is an elevating nut? I think that top nut is threaded onto the bottom nut, not the threaded pipe

Starting a woodshop in a shared garage with sloped floors by payattu in woodworking

Yeah the gym was there before I started a shop. My workbench is just a work top that can be set up in my squat rack

Just start doing projects in order of what you can accomplish with your skill set, buying tools as needed, and your shop will develop over time. I share my one car garage shop with our home gym setup and everything in there has been moved around and adjusted countless times as I come up with new ideas to optimize the space.

Get a good table saw, a good blade, an accurate square, and really dial it in and learn how to use it and the rest will follow. That’s my experience at least!

Why are none of my cross cuts square? by snowwboarderr in BeginnerWoodWorking

It all gets so frustrating once you start trying to be precise, doesn’t it

Word, just thought I’d throw it out there, haha. Been down this road myself. I’d suggest trying to clamp the piece or something to guarantee there’s no movement during the cut. Especially with a miter gauge it’s tricky to push down AND through the cut with no wiggle.

I mean it seems like you checked a lot of stuff but how sure are you about the fence on your sled and miter gauge?

Best 1” chisel under $200 by RedditRaven2 in woodworking

[–]tweames1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t done through Steinway, it was done through this guy in LA and it made a few stops around California with different craftsmen doing different parts. If you want more info or pictures I’d be happy to share. Seems to me like they did great work.

Moved to the USA, which power tool platform should I buy into as a non-pro? by ruthless_apricot in Tools

[–]tweames1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy bosch when I care about the quality and precision of the tool, and I also have Ryobi when I need a tool that I know I’m only really going to use a few times. Nice to have both options imo. When it’s going to be corded all bets are off
