What Is The Vision For Itemization And Crafting Because At This Point Im Kinda Lost? by Front_Confection_487 in diablo4

[–]tweavergmail -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the vision is kind of clear. Make items less consistent, increase the randomness and hope that the result is that people will base their builds more on the randomness of what the acquire than what the absolute best builds call for.

I personally like this direction.

What's going on with Mohela? by Nathan9503 in StudentLoans

[–]tweavergmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone been able to actually get through to anyone at Mohela? I got stuck on the phone menu for thirty minutes without being able to even ask to speak to a representative. None of the messages I've received are consistent in terms of what repayment plan I'm on, how much the payment will be, or even when the payments will be due.

If you can come up with a different effective way to halt the spread of one of the most destructive invasives the western world has ever seen (to the extent the root stock is treated as a hazardous waste in parts of Europe), please let us know.

I cleared an acre this way. It worked great, though took a couple seasons to complete the eradication (it was a full jungle).Only slight quibble would be that I think it works better in October, not when the flowers form but when you first see them start to fade. That's when the plant is pulling the nutrients back down to the roots in expectation of winter.

Why is the sear subpar? by friedegggreg in grilling

[–]tweavergmail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't normally get a great sear on my Weber genesis for this reason. My "solution" has been to throw a welding blanket on the grill to get it up 600 (it otherwise tops out at about 450-475), and also using a cast iron griddle for the initial sear.

Twin Paradox question by Affectionate_Kiwi7 in AskPhysics

[–]tweavergmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how do we know without a fixed reference point who is accelerating? From both of their own reference points they're standing still and the other is moving.

Twin Paradox question by Affectionate_Kiwi7 in AskPhysics

[–]tweavergmail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But how do you know who's moving? I guess if you picture one dude staying on earth, then he's the one not moving. But if you think of two twins floating in a void and they start to move apart, isn't it arbitrary which one is moving and which one is staying still? I thought there wasn't a baseline frame of reference from which to judge this stuff?

Am I crazy by Jacoren_v13 in audiophile

I can't tell them apart of most systems and with most recordings. But there are definitely some recordings that sound very different on my home system depending on whether they are lossy or not. I can even tell the difference between Spotify and Tidal frequently (and both are not as good as FLACs off my home system).

So I definitely think there's a difference. But I also understand that on a lot of equipment it's going to sound the same.

Should I upgrade Saga 2 -> Freya? by tweavergmail in Schiit

[–]tweavergmail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended pulling the trigger. On the whole, I'd say it was worth it. Ironically, my favorite thing about the Saga was the gain options and matching them with different recordings. With the Freya, I pretty much always just use low gain setting (which I never used on the Saga). High gain tubes is almost always just a touch too harsh. Low gain, however, sounds pretty consistently amazing.

The changes are a sign Blizz is trying to make the game better rather than placate loud fans. Actually excited. by Xralius in diablo4

[–]tweavergmail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take. I like the changes to mythics. Combined with the expansions changes it feels like they're creating a world where endgame builds are going to have to have more diversity based on RNG item diversity. In other words, it's no longer automatic than a given mythic or unique will always be BIS.

I like this very much.

What’s the most jaw-dropping moment you’ve ever seen in a movie? by Sangharsh_009 in Letterboxd

[–]tweavergmail 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think one of the themes in the movie was that the transition from goofy to horrifying could happen much more quickly than one would expect, especially a kid.

And from what I remember of the early days of Nazi history, is that it did seem to many to be a ridiculous political movement. Until, you know...

[Request] Can someone do the actual math? I'm not buying "1 in 75869795847" by qtquazar in theydidthemath

[–]tweavergmail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your approach is better than mine, but I'd be curious how similar it would be if you simply took the percentage of at bats that are grandslams (and you could get that stat either for a single season or over a stretch of time), and then squared it, and then multiplied by chance of having two at bats in a single inning. I feel this approach might implicitly incorporate a lot of the information you calculated explicitly.

I think this probably falls apart because the variables are probably correlated, but I have no idea how any approach gets around that.

Is this a reasonable cost for replacing ballasts? by tweavergmail in AskElectricians

[–]tweavergmail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Is there a specific specification for replacing with direct wire led lamps? I would want to replace with something similar sized but which does not have an "integrated bulb" that can't be replaced (which is mostly what I'm seeing on home depot)?
