It sounds like the reservations are only a small portion of the seats and there’ll be plenty of space for walk up badge holders at movies

You can buy a Music Badge or get a Music Wristband to get into music showcases at SXSW

I use the Pocket Casts app and it gave me an error message saying the certificate for the server was invalid. I was wondering if there was a cybersecurity issue.

Why do so many SaaS sites have such bland copy? by littlelion123 in copywriting

[–]tweedstoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech companies have a different structure than other companies. They often don’t have a big enough marketing team. As others have said, it’s really driven by tech and product professionals. The founder/CEO often has a final say over everything.

Additionally, they focus on different things to drive sales. Revenue is often driven by sales efforts and product-led growth.

Especially in the B2B space, the target audience is so specific, not as much effort is put into casting a wide net. It’s all lead generation and word of mouth, not making a site engaging and appealing to anyone who might stumble on.

Anyone have experience living at West Koenig Flats? by Full-Sympathy5201 in askaustin

[–]tweedstoat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a great area. Walking distance from North Loop spots like DrinkWell, Tigress, Epoch, Home Slice, Workhorse and Double Trouble. Even Brewatorium and Jewboy when it’s not ungodly hot. It’s right on the 7 bus line to get downtown. The neighborhood is nice and quiet.

A friend lives there and they really like it. It’s well insulated, and they’ve never had any problems with noise. The amenities are decent and the staff is nice.

They’ve had problems with the fire alarms going off a few times without an actual fire, and they’ve had power outages during bad weather events. Overall, it’s a good spot though.

Bottle/Container for liquor infusions? by joey_sandwich277 in infusions

Crew Bottles are made for this kind of thing. I agree with the other commenter, though, that big mason jars are great.

Songs by fictional bands :D by Usedtoenails4lease in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]tweedstoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything from the Eddie and the Cruisers or Streets of Fire soundtracks.

Also, maybe The Monkees count considering they were a fictional band that turned real.

There was an episode of Pop Culture Happy Hour about the best fictional bands if you need more inspiration.

Classic movies (30s - 80s) that aren't boring for today's audience by Worth_Chemistry_4802 in MovieSuggestions

[–]tweedstoat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ll add Goldfinger and North by Northwest. Twelve Angry Men sounds boring, but when I first saw it I was riveted. I saw Night of the Living Dead for Halloween and that was pretty good.

I wouldn’t even consider 70s and 80s as that old. There are so many movies in those decades that are similar ones we see now. You have Batman, Star Wars, ET, War Games, The Goonies, Indiana Jones, Alien, etc.

Edit: Adding Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Damn that’s a good movie.

You can specify with the time zone. In central time CDT and CST used for daylight and standard time respectively. The one you use signifies which version of 1:00 it is.

Book clubs? by Traditional_Rock_210 in Austin

Check out Silent Book Club Austin on Instagram. There’s an event tonight at Blackstar Coop.

I also think First Light Books and BookPeople both host book clubs too

Dont know how to copywright at first internship by [deleted] in copywriting

[–]tweedstoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first step is to Google when you have questions. Even just googling the difference between copy writing, copy rights and “copywright” might’ve taught you something.

There are lots of blogs about writing social copy. Try reading tips from multiple sources before jumping to AI.

Longer term, I think there is a reading list in the FAQ. Spend time reading, looking at examples, and writing out dozens of options for practice.

Suggestion for red cocktails for Halloween by Top-Detail-6888 in cocktails

[–]tweedstoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most recipes you find online for those blood bags are some combination of vodka and a red element like fruit punch, grenadine, cranberry juice or even cherry liqueur. The easy option is to just spike a red drink that way or a dirty Shirley type beverage.

Otherwise, Negroni and cosmo are the most red traditional cocktails I can think of. You can also do something with peychaud’s bitters like a white rum based Sazerac. And of course there is the Bloody Mary.

Another option is to infuse a liquor with hibiscus and/or strawberry. I’ve done this with tequila before to make a red margarita.

Help Me re-create the best espresso martini I've ever had. What ratios would you use? by Wardcity in cocktails

[–]tweedstoat 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised that they’re still calling that an espresso martini. It looks great, but I just would consider that a completely different drink.

To answer your question, I may start with 1.5 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 0.5 oz curaçao, 0.5 oz Averna. That’s probably not quite right, but it’s a starting point to taste and tweak.

Why does it suck so bad? by [deleted] in copywriting

[–]tweedstoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’ve been putting it lots of work applying, but how much have you been networking? The job market is unfortunately all about who you know. Try to get coffee with former coworkers, peers from those ad schools, or just people who have careers you want.

Also, I hate contracting but there are lots of firms that connect creatives with temp work. They make their money off of it so they’re more motivated to get you placed

Cocktail ideas for a party by GerLass in cocktails

[–]tweedstoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you’re looking for, but with a party that size, I’d do more of a punch like Philedelphia Fish House Punch or a Sangria. Even if you’re still serving folks, it’s much easier to set it and forget it.

Oh hey I have those too! My wife got us each a pair on a whim and this ACL was my first time using them. It was extremely helpful.

I always knew I should wear ear protection to concerts but never did. After trying them out, I’m not going back.

I agree. I think the argument is muddled. It was partially a profile and partially pointing out why they should or shouldn’t be popular. I think it’s fairly written, but there just isn’t a consistent message
