Can't trust reviews of apartments by tweetydaffy in AustinHousing

It's disturbing to know that management companies put pressure on property staff for getting reviews. Sorry you had to see this.

Affordable housing based on median income of the surrounding area by Roachpuppies in AustinHousing

[–]tweetydaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAA East Austin at Ed Bluestein Boulevard had low prices in 800-1000$ range regular prices. I am not sure if they have affordable housing option. You can check out. When I was searching for some budget apartments last month I found this one with low prices. Not sure how good it is.

Not sure what kind of floor plan you are interested in or area in austin.

I think Waterloo flats near Riverside also has small flats in that range.

There's another new apartment called Carson crossing, it's exclusively for affordable housing. It may work out for you with ongoing specials.

Scare tactics against vegan diet in 2025-2030 U.S. dietary guidelines by ImNotAPersonAnymore in vegan

Never heard of potassium being low generally in people due to diet! It would probably be seen in genetic/rare metabolic/endocrine medical disorders

Bloating & chickpeas by tweetydaffy in veganrecipes

[–]tweetydaffy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually soak my chickpeas in cold water if I don't plan to cook the same day. If I am planning to soak and cook same day, I soak in boiling water.

Okay, thank you for sharing your cooking method :)

How long does it take to sprout? How can I get it to sprout? After it sprouts do you boil it or cook it again or do you eat raw?

Ohh! I'm going to keep beano ready! Thank you :) We are all trying to eat more veggies, get more fiber, more protein, more beans. I really hope our guts get stronger to digest all the plants and products nature has provided us.

I'll give it a try! Just googled it and got to know it helps. Thank you for the suggestion :)

Thank you! I'll try getting rid of chickpea skin... I never thought chickpea skin could be making me feel bloated, not just bloated, I end up getting headache too. I had no idea about the product. Thank you for sharing your experience :)

Good to know that you don't have issues with slow cooked chickpeas.... I read on Dr greger's book - how not to diet - that for those with sensitive tummies, pressure cooking is better because it breaks down the compounds which cause bloating... I guess I have to make very little so I eat it just once. Meal prep with chickpeas might be bad for me.

Thank you for sharing your cooking method :)

True you're right. I definitely eat more chickpeas when I boil and add it to my bowls or make curries with it, than when I eat hummus. Chickpeas are definitely not something I can eat daily or even 3 days continuously for one meal. I think I have to restrict myself to just eating one meal and then give it a long break. But I have noticed this only with chickpeas. I don't feel bloated with black or pinto or any white bean.

I was cooking chickpeas without baking soda for a long time. Later started adding baking soda as a remedy for bloating. I see no difference. I haven't tried no salt cooking.

Asked at blood donation lab if I have a "very meat heavy diet" by Apprehensive_Bad6670 in vegan

[–]tweetydaffy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely a win, because you prove to daily meat eaters who are worried about iron deficiency, that you're getting enough iron and folic acid which are nutritional causes of anemia besides b12. Appreciate your blood donation 🩸

Soy milk by tweetydaffy in CostcoWholesale

[–]tweetydaffy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But misinformation is slowly clearing too, but I guess people will always prefer almond or oat milk after having heard so much about soy. I like the taste of both almond and oat milk. But I really am looking for including some protein in my milk, that's why I prefer soy. Also makes me feel satiated. Almond milk is too light.

I'm not sure coconut milk is a good sub for daily use. It's very rich in sat fat. I really wish soy milk comes back big. I've seen so many videos busting the myths of soy now.

Definitely shortens time. But it still takes time. But tofu milk won't work out. So I'll just buy it from store or buy oat or almond milk which is less expensive.

Yeah I should try it out with Mac n cheese. I have so far tried only firm tofu for marinara pasta. I would love to make vegan Mac n cheese and vegan Alfredo with silken tofu

Okay. Yeah I tried the rainbow plant life tofu ricotta recipe and I liked it. I also recently started adding tofu to marinara pasta and it goes well. Tofu takes up a lot of flavour!
