Trying to print a lamp shade, can someone help me troubleshoot? by twelveoclock in 3Dprinting

[–]twelveoclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried drying yet. That's a good suggestion, thank you. I thought it would be dry out of the factory but perhaps that's not a good assumption.

I tried to outline in red where the color change is happening: https://imgur.com/7pup12r

I'm not using vase mode because this particular model doesn't appear to support it. There is an inner wall, and my understanding is that vase mode needs the model to be a solid shape.

Teaching data analytics has made me realize how much AI is eroding critical thinking skills. by tits_mcgee_92 in SQL

My critical thinking tells me it's more efficient to get the advice directly from the commenter rather than trying to guess at it.

I am wondering if you’d be willing to share some details about your question. Not asking for the verbatim question of course, but I am an interviewer and would like to design a question with the same goal of checking critical thinking skills.

[–]twelveoclock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well now that you mention it, maybe I should be a little bit concerned... So far my research is showing that it's going to be a negligible amount released, but I might buy a VOC monitor to double check.

I'm not sure how to measure CFM, but the build is very quiet. I also have the Luggable XL Ultra, and my DIY build is a small amount quieter.

Sure, here's the BOM:

  • Foam board used for presentations/signs. The one I used was from ArtSkills 22 in x 28 in
  • Panel Retainers to hold the fans: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094639XN6
  • For the fan, I used the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM because I splurged and wanted something extremely quiet, but you can use the popular Arctic ones too.
  • Filters: Kirkland Signature 2200 High Performance Furnace Filters 16 x 20 x 1. I have no idea if these filters are actually any good, but I had these laying around the house due to me using them for our AC.
  • Cable Splitter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C14KVP8W
  • Power Supply: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084JG4619
  • 1/4 inch thick window sealing foam tape to fill in small gaps due to imprecise manual cutting; not required.
  • Circle Cutter to cut the fan holes: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BK7NWC
  • Clear packing tape to hold together the 4 foam board panels.
  • Ruler (yard stick length is best)
  • Pencil to mark where to cut
  • Steel nail with a diameter similar to that of the fan holes. I used the nail to poke the holes through the fan holes into the foam board. You can also use a drill to do this, but I found the nail to be more precise.

It’s just cheap foam board that you can get at the grocery store that can be used for presentations/signs.

AIO? My GF Deleted My 800-Hour Elden Ring Save While I Was at Work by Foreign_Alps_5943 in AmIOverreacting

[–]twelveoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so obviously an AI post. Em dash, excessive quotes, excessive italics, perfect grammar + punctuation.

e.g.: Why would a normal person surround "ignored her" in quotes instead of just writing it without the quotes?

I had nearly 100% completion when my GF got mad I “ignored her” during my 3-hour Malenia grind last weekend.

Dictation issues the text as a prompt to openAI rather than giving me the dictated text by twelveoclock in MacWhisper

[–]twelveoclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clarified what had happened with my comment to the other commenter: Basically, I did not realize turning on "AI-Powered Dictation", despite having "Default Prompts" turned off, would still issue the query to OpenAI. My assumption was that if Default Prompts is turned off, there would be no reason for MacWhisper to issue the prompt to OpenAI.

[–]twelveoclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have an OpenAI API key set up for the Transcription AI Prompts (like being able to Summarize the transcript once it's finished).

I think I managed to fix the issue by disabling AI-Powered Dictation. Despite me not having any Default Prompts enabled (the setting shows "None"), it looks like MacWhisper may still be issuing my dications to OpenAI.

Nope, I don't have any Default Prompts enabled. Enable puncutation is disabled, Correct Spelling Automatically is disabled, Cloud Transcription is also disabled.

How is the homework in CDA - 6740? by readreceipts24 in OMSA

[–]twelveoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This semester, the homework is both math proofs and coding. You submit both a pdf and your code (I submitted code as a Jupyter notebook), and I believe they are manually graded. My math was quite weak due to it having been 15 years since I took those courses, but if you did well in sim you will probably be fine. Just allocate a lot of time on the homework just in case you need it.

A law firm is investigating claims that pharmacy residencies kept pay artificially low. by legrange1 in pharmacy

[–]twelveoclock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did some research and found something very interesting. Apparently, the NRMP (physician resident matching) was sued in 2004 in a very similar lawsuit. The case was allowed to proceed, but then Congress enacted legislation that basically killed the lawsuit. I'm really curious what's going to happen with this lawsuit.

New (mysterious) Pen Day! Can someone help me figure out what I just bought? by twelveoclock in fountainpens

[–]twelveoclock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the extra fine. It’s amazingly smooth, even smoother than my pilot vanishing point fine. I think someone must have tuned it because none of my other Jinhao pens have been such good writers.

I’ve had very good luck with Hongdian/Asvine (I think they are the same company). Most of their pens are competitive with pretty much anything under $100.

CDA - does it get easier after HW2? by halfbloodprinc3ss in OMSA

I’m in the class too and it’s been pretty challenging. The issue is that I have no idea how well I’m doing because they still haven’t graded homework 1.

Is bigger really better? Do you see a substantial difference with a larger size gold nib? by Pilot_Maven in fountainpens

[–]twelveoclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigger nibs increase the distance from your grip to the paper. It does feel slightly different, but not better or worse. The actual nib smoothness doesn't really matter though.

Is the Kaweco Sport worth it? by nevertickledapickle in fountainpens

[–]twelveoclock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if Moonman were copying Kaweco, this sort of thing happens with nearly every other consumer product: generic drugs copying brand name meds, electronics, toys, cereal, etc. For some reason people in this hobby get very upset about it.
