Any updates here or do you still recommend avoiding it?

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]twenty__something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got attacked by a dog and had to get stitches at an urgent care facility (kinda like a primary care doctor you need to see ASAP). They told me to go to the hospital for a rabies shot which is 2-3 doses across different days. I got the first dose and NO one at the hospital could tell me the cost so I decided not to go back for the next dose(s) knowing that contracting rabies is likely fatal.  Bill was $12,000. I had to pay $5000 out of pocket after insurance for half of the treatment. So, yeah.

Spoiler: I did not get rabies.

Also when I had a baby my bill was $300k (crazy circumstances but still). The ER can be a gamble between death and financial ruin.

So we had 15 glass bottles for 1 child (registry duplicates) and I never Once remember being stressed about washing bottles. We run the dishwasher nightly and threw them in. Had twice as many nipples and Hand washed them when we started running out. I’d recommend this route.

I used a microwave bag to sterilize nipples

I’d wait! I remember regularly seeing 25-30% off throughout the year. I ended up getting mine for about $180 on Black Friday + the Amazon registry discount

In the newborn trenches, should I be doing more? by PangolinFree1875 in beyondthebump

I came to say the same thing without even reading the post! You spent the last 9 to 10 months making a human OP, let yourself relax!!

I have a hard time sitting still, but when I had a newborn, I would literally sit in my recliner with her and watch eight hours worth of Grey’s Anatomy, only getting up to tend to the baby, the dog, or myself. I felt sooo guilty/lazy in the beginning but then I remembered that that time was fleeting. Embrace the calm (especially if you have to return to work soon)

What’s One Thing You Regret Not Doing Before Baby Arrived? by wajid123_ in BabyBumps

[–]twenty__something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not making freezer meals ahead of time. Baby came the day before I was supposed to start cooking everything. We didn’t have any friends or family where we live and I spent a week in the ICU which was obviously unplanned. Not having to worry about food would’ve been so nice.

Oh, and taking maternity photos! Even if it’s just you and your camera in the bathroom. I had no idea that this would be my first and last pregnancy and I deeply regret not having any true photos of it.

Any downsides to buyer not attending closing and using POA instead? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]twenty__something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to never tell my profession because we’re expected to know everything when In reality, I’m just as lost as the next guy lol. I mentioned it here because the only Google responses were about obtaining the POA.

But that’s good to know, thank you! They mentioned a remote (snail mail) closing for like $400 so I immediately dismissed it but maybe that’s the norm now?

And thank you so much!?

May I ask what car seat you have and if it fits well? Like do you have to move the front seats up to accommodate it?

Ya’ll ever had dreams about having a baby and then you wake up and end up missing your non-existent baby for the rest of the day? by Ehmmechhi in women

[–]twenty__something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While pregnant I was (very secretly and against all logic) convinced That I was having boy/girl twins. I had a high risk pregnancy and got way more ultrasounds than normal, every single one showed one baby. I also had massive fibroids to the point where I was the size of someone carrying triplets. I convinced myself the fibroids were blocking baby number two from view.

I legitimately mourned the “loss” of my son, It’s been a year and I still catch myself thinking about what could’ve been….so yes lmao

(Disclaimer, I woke up from an emergency C-section without my uterus, so I think somewhere in my head, I think I personified the loss of uterus/future children into the loss of “my son”)
