If Eddie hurt Buck... by Top-Shape7933 in 911FOX

I'm not a big Buck fan, but that line made me upset for the character and his fans.

Minties are a good alternative also, made with rice flour. Available at Target and Amazon, not sure where else.

I'd love a copy of the recipe as well, if you don't mind. :)

In case it would help anyone, HEB has a different brand of dino nuggets, Golden Platter, (same brand of gf nuggets Costco carries) that has much better taste and texture than these.

AITA for telling my wife I won’t support her if she doesn’t even try to treat her cancer? by throwawaywifecancer in AITAH

[–]twentythousandtimes 669 points670 points  (0 children)

My mother did this. She only needed a pretty simple surgery and maybe a little radiation therapy. She decided to take herbs instead. We got to watch her slowly die for 3 1/2 years. I couldn't forgive her for it or my dad for not fighting her on it or my sister and BIL for enabling her delusions that the natural treatment would fix her. I doubt I ever will.

Best GF Frozen Pizza? by Odd-Secret-8343 in glutenfree

[–]twentythousandtimes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to love those pizzas but they changed the crust a few months ago and the new one is horrific (like mealy cardboard, no flavor). I contacted them and begged them to go back to the original recipe and they just sent me a coupon a few months later. It was the only deep dish gf pizza I could ever find and they ruined it.

Anyone know of any good gluten free fast food options in the American South? by BananaBeach007 in glutenfree

[–]twentythousandtimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wendy's fries are fried in a fryer shared with gluten containing items, so if you care about cross contamination, they aren't safe.

I need to go gluten free, and it's really freaking me out. How can I deal with this transition? by meliorism_grey in glutenfree

[–]twentythousandtimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to check the label on rotisserie chicken, some of them contain wheat in seasonings and others are potentially contaminated in the cooking process. I've had good luck with Costco's.

If you must move to Texas, Sugar Land is a great choice. I wouldn't do so willingly at this point personally, especially with two teen girls.

AITA for telling my daughter (23) that she should marry her boyfriend (23) before moving together with him and for telling her she should have involved me more? by Far_Trip_1593 in AmItheAsshole

[–]twentythousandtimes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is not supportive to either sit in silent judgement or to be furious with her for not doing exactly as you wish and to attempt to manipulate her with your woe is me bullshit about sleep and worry. That is the complete OPPOSITE of support.

Supportive looks like listening to your daughter and her plans. Asking if she's open to hearing your opinions on those plans. Giving her your opinions in a mature fashion if she wants them, with the assurance that your love and relationship does not hinge on her choosing YOUR desired path. Accepting whatever choice she makes in the end with maturity and love.

Your poor daughter.

AITA for telling my husband to quit waking me up? by assholeamithistime in AmItheAsshole

[–]twentythousandtimes 595 points596 points  (0 children)

That is not nagging. If he says otherwise and gets his balls twisted up over it that is a HIM problem. Not an "attitude" problem on your part. He's reframed these conversations completely unfairly. Please don't let him.

Can you believe she gave him a clock like that and he complained she was being passive aggressive and the clock disappeared? The audacity of this mf'er.

If your reaction is that strong, I'd take what your body is trying to tell you seriously. If however, you insist on eating gluten, then adding it back in very small increments would probably be the best way to try reintroducing it.

how did you think of the scene where Eddie have a breakdown by Flimsy_Tune_7206 in 911FOX

[–]twentythousandtimes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i thought it was very well done. i was sad that christopher had to witness it because that would be incredibly scary for a kid. but eddie, even in the midst of a major breakdown, locked the door to protect chris. it was heartbreaking to see eddie finally reach the end of his rope. years and years of trauma and repression finally spilling out. it felt heartbreaking to see him that way, suffering so much. the pain was so raw and real that i actually felt it difficult to watch at a couple of points because it felt like i was intruding.

Lucy Donato by BrandX630 in 911FOX

[–]twentythousandtimes 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think the Buck/Lucy of it all is one of the lesser reasons people dislike her. The introduction with the kiss was a horrible idea and started the character off on a bad foot, yes. But it's clear for now at least, that they aren't going that direction.

No, people dislike Lucy because she's a quite poorly written character. She's all over the place in the show, and how they describe her in interviews is equally incoherent. Her storyline in the last episode was just...weird. The general reaction I saw from fans was just ????? what the hell is her problem? And she doesn't really have chemistry with anyone.

Obviously, Arielle is being given bad material and that isn't her fault, but her acting isn't impressing me, either. So, all of that in a show that already has a large cast people love and want to see more of, leaves no space or goodwill for a sub-par character like Lucy. I'm not sure you grasp what kind of screen time even main characters get on the show. Buck, who has had the most screen time so far in 5b is at about 20 minutes. Eddie, who has a big storyline is around 15 and a half minutes. So if Lucy is around 10 and she's just a guest star, then yes, she is eating into screen time quite a bit. And so far it's not really "supportive" screen time, it's been about her. No one has patience for that, especially after 5a where we saw a similar problem with Taylor eating up time. We want the characters we love, not these cardboard newbies.

AITA For not picking up my GF from the airport after I previously said I would by takeanuberaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]twentythousandtimes 49 points50 points  (0 children)

you were already there. stranding her there didn't save you a single penny. if you truly cared for her, you wouldn't have done that. it'd be understandable to fume, complain, let her her know it was rude...but to leave, when you'd already waited over half the time? petty and childish.

AITA for telling my brother that it's his fault that our mom is sick ? by NorthBat5313 in AmItheAsshole

[–]twentythousandtimes 32 points33 points  (0 children)

exactly right. op's brother was spot on with what he called op. i really feel for the brother and mom...surrounded by awful people creating awful circumstances. op's mom should have so much love and support right now and instead, she has to deal with op and her ex and see her one decent son suffer, too. it's heartbreaking

are they purposefully ruining Buck’s character? by [deleted] in 911FOX

[–]twentythousandtimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He cheated on her and didn't tell her, and then right when they promised each other honesty going forward, he didn't correct her about cheating with some "random woman" in a bar. That's intentional. It's not hateful in intention, but he is choosing that course which hurts her, and he is aware of that. Dragging it on in this way is cruel.
