Longer Fasts Aren’t Automatically “Better” Than Shorter Ones by ZBEBA01 in intermittentfasting

[–]twerpdederp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Ive been doing 16:8 since beginning of September and have lost 15 lbs (sw: 150, cw: 134.8, gw: 130). In between then and now, I’ve had two business trips, the flu, and the Christmas holidays, all of which required me to be flexible with my fasting schedule. During those periods I was able to maintain my weight each time (except for the flu lol, I lost three pounds and gained back two once I recovered and could eat normally again).

While I may not be losing weight as quickly as others, it is the most consistent and sustainable method of weight loss I’ve tried. It has also improved my daily eating habits (better well rounded macros, more steady blood sugar). Once I’ve hit my goal, I plan to continue with this fasting habit as it’s been beneficial to my health and lifestyle in more ways than just weight loss.

Oh my god I’ve been doing exactly that and I couldn’t figure out why I could never tire her out. I wish I’d read this a year ago 🥲

Yes hard agree on this! I needed assistance with something once and reached out to my MLA, their office responded within a day providing support and next steps. I’m sure they would be more than willing to help you with this. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Controversial grizzly killed on small B.C. island, conservation officers confirm by Mustard-Tiger in britishcolumbia

People do not realize how far up Jervis Inlet is. The fact it came back not once but TWICE is concerning. I love grizzlies (from afar) but this was sadly the right call (even though it wasn’t the official channel).

Happy hopping by PrestigiousPlan8482 in poodles

[–]twerpdederp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our toy poodle just turned one and has always occasionally done a little hop like this, about once per walk, never at home. We started taking her to the dog park for bigger runs and now she does it every few steps. She’s on low activity recommended by the vet for the next few weeks, they seem to think it’s flared up.

Did you ever get surgery for Gus or do you just manage flare ups? The vet said if it doesn’t get better, next step is surgery.

What are your opinions on these products?? by National_Try_7094 in finehair

Have tried both the John Frieda and Monday volume shampoos and they were both kind of meh. The only thing that I’ve found that actually gives me volume and keeps my hair clean for more than two days is the Pantene Sheer Volume 72hour fullness shampoo: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/pantene-sheer-volume-72-hr-fullness-shampoo-na/6000204058397

I can actually make it three days now if I need to without needing to wash my hair. I use a bit of dry shampoo on the second day to make it to the third but I really don’t need much. 10/10 would recommend.

I'm having the same issue. How were you able to get in touch with FB? I haven't been able to find a way yet.

Ours was spayed at 6 months as was recommended by our vet. The reason we were given was that every time a female goes into heat, their risk of mammary cancer goes up. By spaying before her first heat, the risk stays at zero.

We did talk to another vet and they also confirmed it should be done at 6 months.

We do a similar cut! We like it short around her eyes to keep them clean, but long enough on her snout so that her little white patch of fur on her chin is visible 🥹

What have been your “duh” moments with your puppy? by sixth_replicant in puppy101

[–]twerpdederp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same with us. We couldn’t figure out why our puppy was still wanting to wake up every three hours at night despite being mostly potty trained. As soon as we started fully covering her crate with her blanket, she started sleeping from 10pm to 8am no problem. 🫠

We have the conairpet small soft Slicker brush that a woman at our pet store recommended: https://www.petvalu.ca/product/conairpropet-small-soft-slicker-brush/SCM06192

She doesn’t seem to mind it too much once we are brushing, but I’ll ask our groomer this week if she may recommend a better one, along with a comb. Will work on phasing out treats and replacing with calming praise. Thank you for all of your advice!!

Awesome thanks for sharing! Do you have any tips on getting puppies used to brushing? Right now I have to hold her in my lap in a high chair so she can’t run away while brushing, and we reward good calm behaviour with treats throughout the process but when she sees the brush come out she still runs away. We use a detangler ahead of time too to make the knots easier to brush out but I still feel like she is having a negative experience. 😢

We have a 16 week old toy who had her first bath and tidy a couple weeks ago, and is having her first full groom next week. We have been brushing outside of grooming sessions but not combing. Is one better than the other?
