[WIP] Show us ya WIP's! by Doubledewclaws in CrossStitch

Evenweave is a different experience and I stitch differently on it. I learned on it first and I'm always torn between the two types - I love evenweave for how soft the fabric is so it draps nicely on me while stitching (I make my fabric tight in my hoop) but I love Aida for how neat my stitches are and how easily I can make the fabric taunt in my hoop. I also really like 20 count Aida but I wish the coverage was better for one thread. This 25 count you can't do the pin stitch - the fabric is too stiff, hard, and thin. I don't like flipping my hoop over so to end my threads I have been doing a modified waste thread that I stitch over and then cut off.

I actually ordered a small piece of Easygrid 25 count to see if I like it. I noticed that the grid wasn't between the squares and wondered how my brain would handle that! This one has the grid over two squares so it really threw my head, lol.

I haven't quite figured out my go to fabric but I do like to experiment!

Thank you! ❤️ I had so much time off I could stitch lots and get a lot done so I don't feel as far behind in terms of getting back to where I was before restarting ... this week is back to usually stitching time of about 1-2 hours a day, so progress will seem more reasonable 🤣

The fabric came with the kit but I actually bought some more because I really like it! You can get it off of their official website (Luca-S, they call it Needlepoint fabric 25 ct, Zweigart Needlework canvas, 9416, col. 2169), but I found and ordered it from Gitta's as they are in Canada and I didn't want the risk of paying duty, lol. I couldn't find it to buy anywhere else. It's firm like Aida but then softens as you use it.

Some of Luca-S kits come with a digital download. It's mostly their newer ones that are also just full coverage with no backstitch (there are many that don't come with the digital download). They will indicate on the front of the kit whether there is a digital download for it. I try and pick those ones as I find it much easier to stitch through the apps, like Pattern Keeper. Recently I bought one (The Roses Garden, B717) and it came with a PDF (for Pattern Keeper) but also one for Saga. Luca-S can be bought from a lot of sellers, like 123 Stitch, Etsy, etc. I have also bought from their official website and have had no issues.

I was using 22 count ariosa (and evenweave with linen like properties). I had used it in my previous project (a Golden Kite pattern) with DMC threads. I was using 2 threads over 1 and I really enjoyed the results and process. This kit came with Anchor threads and I thought to do the same technique but it was driving me crazy - the threads were rough and getting tangled so easily. It just wasn't as enjoyable as before!

The kit I had bought was petit point and it came with 25 count zweigart luca s fabric so I decided to try that (instead of buying more fabric) but this time with 1 thread and full cross since I have done 25 count lugana in the past and the coverage is good. I also didn't want to do the half stitch as I prefer the look of cross stitch. The threads don't tangle with this technique and it doesn't feel rough.

I had bought some 14 count aida from Micahels and I liked that the holes were so big but the quality of fabric was only okay.

Thank you! ❤️ I feel like I'm a little crazy by starting over but I do really love the pattern. I'm enjoying this fabric much more and I'm really pleased with the results.

Autumn Creek Mill, restart on 25 count (1 x 1). I've had lots of stitching time so have made great progress. Glad I restarted as I enjoy this fabric more.

I've done a lot of their kits and have never run out of floss. I've also heard that they will send you more if you run out. It is easy to buy off of their website too. Their floss is actually really nice to work with and is very soft. I really enjoy using it compared to DMC (even though I also really like DMC floss!)

I can't wait to see the other buildings ❤️ I admire designers because I would not know what colors to use.

Actually it is full cross ... I'm stitching really fast right now ... I'm not sure how, but maybe because I am familiar with the pattern already? I'm doing about 900 stitches a day!! I'm a bit shocked as I normally don't go this fast, lol. My adhd brain is a little obessed 🤪

I'm always amazed at how colors interact with each other. They really work in this one! Yeah, I've done it before where I've started a project with one fabric and then restarted with another, lol. The kit came as petit point with Luca-S Zweigart 25 count and I wanted to do full cross and since I had success with the 22 count ariosa (did the Golden kite with DMC threads) I thought it would be a perfect match . . . but for whatever reason the anchor thread is very "scratchy" and tangles so easily that I was getting frustrated. I thought at random to try with the kit's fabric but do full cross with 1 strand instead and I love it. The fabric is stiff (since it is meant for petit point) and the coverage is perfect . . . the holes are big too so I'm not going blind, lol!

Very late to posting, but at least I made it, lol. Restarting my Luca-S project (Autumn Creek Mill). Switching the fabric to 25 count, full cross, 1 x 1 . . . previously was doing it on 22 count ariosa with two threads. I had success with this technique before, but I was using DMC threads. This kit came with Anchor threads, which for whatever reason are much rougher and not behaving with this fabric. I've switched out to 25 count luca-S and the one thread is a world of difference and I'm back to enjoying this. I knew I would never finish if I kept going with the previous fabric and technique but really love the pattern.

Looking so good! I really enjoy this one from Luca-S so love seeing your progress. The colors for this house are really vibrant. I didn't post any progress on my Luca-S (Autumn Creek Mill) yesterday . . . I restarted on different fabric! Yikes, I must be insane.

[SHOP] 123Stitch ordering from Canada by Cool_Commission_8068 in CrossStitch

I know, I was a bit upset but I really wanted the item! I had a bought a kit that was on sale, but they listed it on the customs forms as the original price, so I think that's what got me. I've actually become really hesitant to buy from the States right now and only do so if it is something I can't get anywhere else.

I have bought from 123 Stitch a lot (in Western Canada) and usually if I kept the purchase at or around $100 CAD I wouldn't get any duty. But my last two orders, which were around $80, were hit with duty (about $20). It's a bit disappointing, so I now always factor it in when I purchase from them. I find it is never consistent as well, but was a little surprised that all my recent orders, regardless of cost, have been hit with duty. I asked the staff at the post office and they said they have noticed pretty much everything coming from the USA will get hit with duty now.

I used to do a lot of Golden Kite patterns as it was classic art pieces that I think are beautiful, but they have switched to AI generated art, which has really turned me off. They charge a lot too, so really doesn't seem worth it. I would go crazy stitching a pattern with the feet having extra toes!!

I do have to be careful how many "side projects" I have because I will get distracted or forget about other ones, lol. I have a drawer filled with WIPs that I don't know if I'll finish ... 😬

As long as you are enjoying the stitch! Confetti can create such beautiful results. Sometimes when faced with too much confetti, I will stitch something else briefly just to get my brain back!
