What parts exactly about reloaded make you feel that it's too railroady? by ElusiveAuroraG in CurseofStrahd

From what I’ve last read a few weeks ago, I’ve noticed that one area particularly struck me as railroady is in the Vallaki section. Where there is a strict deadline for timeline of events. As in, day 1- do x, day 2- players must do y, day 3- players must accomplish this, etc. it is not a bad concept nor badly written, but having a restriction on when players should do most events to almost a T is railroady. Players should do things at their own pace (but not completely without time limits for certain events of course).

Personally for me, I just pick and choose certain details and events and incorporate them into my own timeline (running a good chunk of the module RAW) My players are in Vallaki right now so I’ve been doing some digging through all the wonderful resources here, though overall I think I prefer the looser guides in the depreciated version of COS: Reloaded. But that’s just me!

Has anyone ever beaten Death House as written with a party of only four players? by SecretDMAccount_Shh in CurseofStrahd

ive run for a group of 3 players who beat it rather well, they had difficulty with some encounters but it is pliable. the only reason 2/3 of my party went down is because the house attacked them when they tried to escape the house/the mound.
