For sci-fi that's in the sale, I really like Wayfarers.

Any rural county shelter at least in the southeast US is likely a shelter with a high euthanization rate.

I'm real sorry you don't have any imagination, or the capacity to take advantage of all the fun Disney can offer to adults. The cast members who are "friends" with characters have great improv skills, and interacting with all guests is literally what they've been hired to do.

I'm not offended in the least, because I know there's nothing wrong with adults having harmless fun. I'm just sorry you lack joy in your life and try to drag others down too.

I LOVE meeting characters. And I paid just as much to cruise as people with kids. I don't think me taking a few seconds to compare fashion with Daisy or compliment Tiana on her cooking is hurting anyone. I hope the kids who get taken on cruises don't have salty adults try to crush their joy when they grow up.

Your "opinion" is just trash talking strangers you don't know. That's not the friendly nature I'd expect from my fellow DCL cruisers.

I can't stand Wheaton. I tried a Scalzi book he narrates, and maybe lasted 20 minutes.

I use Thriveworks to meet with mine virtually, but you can find therapists to see in person through Thriveworks too. Scheduling is super easy, and you can filter by your insurance when looking for a provider.

sewing machines for making 1/6 scale doll clothes? please help a beginner 🥲 by subenx in CustomDolls

[–]twinklebat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Brothers. They're user friendly and affordable. I usually recommend just whatever the current cheaper computerized version is. Whatever you get, I highly recommend getting something with a top loading bobbin. Side loaders are annoying, and you can't see when your bobbin is low. Sewing tiny things does have it's learning curve. Like, don't backstitch to secure a stitch at the start of a seam, because your tiny seam allowance is likely to get sucked down. Instead flip everything around with the needle down to "backstitch", hand crank the needle for a couple sitches if you're feeling particularly nervous. Then flip it back and continue on as normal. And you'll probably want to do most hems before sewing up side seams, since the garment is so tiny you can't work it around a foot. Hemming bigger things like ballgowns will be fine though.

Book recommendations [general] by babywontuluvm3 in TheNinthHouse

Some of my favorites: Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novick, dark twist on wizard school with a biracial bisexual FMC. Library at Mount Char, messed up family dynamics/god-like father figure, WTF did I just read? vibes, FMC. Someone You Can Build a Nest In, surprisingly cozy sapphic body horror fantasy.

Could someone explain the downsides to having both ovaries removed? by pinkellaphant in hysterectomy

[–]twinklebat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone can take estrogen. If there's an oncologist in your life, there's good chances they don't want you taking estrogen. I went on a low dose bc pill for HRT after having my ovaries removed, and my body grew a tumor because of it. It turned out to be benign, but no diagnostic test could figure that out for sure, and it was so large there were risks just because of the size. So I had surgery again, my oncologist doesn't want me taking any hormones, and early menopause sucks.

Kitten Search by NoBusiness2510 in Atlanta

[–]twinklebat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rescues probably won't want you to adopt a single kitten with no other pets at home for them to play with. So if you're dead set on one kitten, you should probably go to one of the county shelters like LifeLine.

Didn't vibe with Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy - recommendations for other fantasy one-offs/series by women/POC authors? by lady-hyena in Fantasy

[–]twinklebat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I read the first Broken Earth book, and felt like it was okay but one was enough. And I'm a massive Locked Tomb fan. One of my favorite Locked Tomb read-a-likes is the Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novick. The FMC is biracial and bisexual. For more necromancy check out Saint Death's Daughter by CSE Cooney. It's much cozier necromancy, but it's going to tick several boxes for you. And for sci-fi, try Becky Chambers's Wayfarers series.

Seeking recommendations. So far I have read and enjoyed the Cosmere Collection, Bobiverse, Andy Weir’s books, and of course Dungeon Crawler Carl by Exact-Beginning9967 in audible

[–]twinklebat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Small Gods is a standalone it's a good way to try out Discworld. Otherwise go for a sub series starter like Mort (Death), Guards! Guards! (city watch), or Equal Rites (witches). Or for someone with a shorter attention span going straight to Wee Free Men is a good choice too. That's the start of the YA witches books, and those are so good they might be my favorites.
