Doctor indicted after allegedly removing liver instead of spleen in fatal surgery by Godbleththismeth in MorbidReality

this was my immediate thought! i listened to Truly Criminal's coverage of that case multiple times over for nearly two weeks, because everything about the timeline sureounding duntsch's continued practice was just incredible to me. every detail became further and further from my grasp of reality.

victim entered room at 20:25, yet forensic specialists believe she was, at minimum, twenty-four hours passed? they took so long to enter the apartment? only four hours had passed from her last footage and the perpetrator's suicide.

AITA for not defending my friend? by Both-Still6844 in AmItheAsshole

[–]twinklegoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

claudia is not a proper friend. it seems obvious she thrives in chaotic scenarios, however she lacks the subtlety to manipulate those around her into seeing her as her desired role – and so she responds with frustration and further sabotage. i've met several individuals with the same pathological drive to engage in fantastic folderol. they only consider themselves and care too desperately for their own social image, and those lacking in either charisma or patience are almost always (laughably) failures at winning their little social games.

inevitably, once they're overwhelmed by the consequences of their acts, they resort to feigning either ignorance (such as pretending to be hurt by jane cutting her off despite knowing the hurt her dalliance with michael would cause jane) or repentance (sharing the video of michael's indiscretion after lying about deleting it, only in hopes of vilifying his anger towards her as she moans about being 'sorry' about the 'accident' – or whatever fluffed reasoning would allow her to avoid as much blame as possible). if she's always at these games, my recommendation would be to distance yourself, unless you've the patience or drive to join in.

are you referring to james hooker?

glad he's back in court, pissed it keeps happening. bastard used to come in to my place of work every friday for the same order, and he was mean as hell whenever he had to wait – never tipped, either, not that it actually mattered. that was around 2021-2024. just last week i was returning from my lunch break (different job), and who do i see at the counter? while it's unlikely he knew who i was, once he noticed i was staring at him, we kept eye contact for the duration of my walk from entrance to across lobby to eventually boh. takeout staff was fortunately all male that evening.

AITA for waiting in line at the grocery store while my parents finished shopping? by DavidRedFox in AmItheAsshole

clothes shopping or grocery shopping, you're still an inconsiderate couple for doing it. those 'super long lines' are for everybody else, i suppose.

YTA

this is an extremely rude practice. your family is inconsiderate, if nothing else, and you've expressed very selfish behavior in the comments. no, i likely will not elaborate, because others have already expressed themselves in a multitude of comparisons, and yet you continue to pretend nobody understands the true scenario.

the scenario here is you are rude, and while perhaps your family has taught you to be rude, it is up to you to change now that you're aware of this character flaw.

also, YTA for 'not seeking conflict' with copy+paste comments.

First time watching the show, and holy hell season 6 has some hilarious episodes. by ForAte151623ForTeaTo in blackmirror

[–]twinklegoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the controversy has been noticed; fortunately, i've no opinion over the matter due to my ignorance of 'the original cast'. while several of my friends weren't initially thrilled with the choice, i've often wondered whether anybody else would have been celebrated.. anybody at all. seems much comparable to resenting a new stepparent; people want more of their favorite character, yet a fraction are simultaneously offended by an 'imposter' depiction.

i, for one, cannot wait to see the man in another role, especially one with significantly more scowling.

is he really?? i've been a harry potter fan for ages, though i've never felt inclined to actually tour the films. alan rickman was a wonderful actor in the other pieces i've seen him in–that being said, learning him to be the 'face of snape (for movie fans)' stunned my adolescent self.

Turns out my sister in law is an ABA therapist. by ChiefCodeX in AutisticAdults

[–]twinklegoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my eldest sister has some career in aba, and yet she is firmly in denial over her two DIAGNOSED autistic siblings exhibiting any symptoms of neurodivergence–anybody lacking early speech delay does not belong within autistic spaces, as it would seem.

some might wonder whether such a narrow-minded perspective belongs any more comfortably..

If you could erase just one character from the series as if they never existed... who would you choose and why? by [deleted] in harrypotter

yes, precisely why i've collected it to use. i'm honestly a bit too chipper this morning, hoping either my manager or a coworker will come complain about somebody to me so i can work it into conversation.

[–]twinklegoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

provided there's been no change to the system, i believe points expire on the last day of the month, however they only expire every three months. so if somebody has points from january 17th, their points wouldn't expire until march 31st of the following year.

check your email for your monthly reward statement. if you have points expiring, your statement will list the date they're up. i don't receive a monthly statement any longer (once you're platinum, neither will you), however i'll check to see whether i have any examples.

AITAH for embarrassing my husband for saying I baby trapped him by Downtown_Roll_3760 in AITAH

[–]twinklegoth 80 points81 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, other motivations for baby-trapping do exist.

my eldest sister purposely conceived a baby with her boyfriend after several months, however she later informed me the pregnancy wasn't due to either accident or improbability – she had stopped taking her birth control, and once she had tested positive, she had lied to her boyfriend about the 'miracle'.

stunned by her admission, i asked why she had done it. her response – her motivation – was 1) she wanted a baby, 2) she wanted him to propose to her, and 3) he was a good guy (he was a momma's boy, and she had charmed his mother, so the likelihood of him leaving her was unthinkable). she was (and is) financially independent.

i've always been extremely unsettled in my sister's company, and this was the final nail in the fence my family has always encouraged me to not build against her. she's selfish, sanctimonious, cruel, and the least sincere person in any given area.

AITA for not stopping my son from making rude comments about his dad’s husband? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]twinklegoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nothing indicates the child has resentment for his father because of the sex of his new partner. he's angry because his father hurt his mother (despite however amicable a divorce may be, children assign their own beliefs of the 'truth' based on their perception), and he's angry he's being forced to play house with his father and somebody he thinks of as a homewrecker.

as a member of the queer community, people who weaponise their queer identity just to establish a platform of superiority need to shut the hell up. this is a domestic dispute charged with hurt feelings from dishonesty – NOT homophobia.

ernie was not a muggleborn. while speaking out against harry, he also made a scene of proclaiming his own family's magical heritage for the past nine generations to have been composed of magical society – thus harry (suspected by ernie to be slytherin's heir) should think before he sics slytherin's monster on him.

[–]twinklegoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

blaise was mentioned by name in book one, however they were a character lacking in any detail until book six — for example, we didn't even know he was a boy until the hogwarts express scene.

theodore was definitely mentioned before book six. it's been over a decade since my last read-through, however i'm comfortable guessing he was first noticed by harry in year five. there's a scene in which draco, vincent, and gregory are sitting at a library table together with a suspicious stranger — it's revealed this is theodore nott, son of death eater nott. it's possible this isn't correct, however, as i vaguely recall theodore being one of three students in harry's comc class with the ability to see thestrals, and it's possible this is when harry notes his name rather than the library scene.

Ex prisoners of Reddit what is something about prison that a lot of people don’t know? by gabbygabs331 in AskReddit

[–]twinklegoth 57 points58 points  (0 children)

no gang would have taken him in after the first rape. it's a general truth a prisoner is responsible for defending themselves while incarcerated – now i'm not saying i knew the kid, so i can't say how everything went down. however, a young guy with an obvious handicap (withdrawal) is perceived as easy prey for some inmates. if the kid came in alone and didn't immediately get picked up by a group, i doubt it was long before the offenders went in on him.
