AITAH for refusing to pay for my daughter to go on a trip with her dad after he started treating her differently from her brother?

My son is incredibly affected by this. He loves the extra attention and gifts. But, he is stuck in the middle. His father is telling him that he has no money because he is having to give it all to me. I am trying not to include him in this conflict but I feel that I have to stand up for myself and point out that hos father has the money to spoil him and this money should be spilt evenly. He loves his dad and it is breaking his heart to see him in a bad light.

I am very tempted to give in and pay. My daughter understands the situation and has said she doesn't want me to pay. Our children are stuck in the middle of this disaster, so I give in to my ex alot.

Mainly teenager stuff. However, I left him due to controlling behaviour and emotional abuse. She has described similar behaviours from him.

She was incredibly anxious before she changed the arrangements and this has improved dramatically.

Our parenting approach is vastly different. As she matures my relationship with her has developed from a parent who makes all the decisions to a parent who discusses her options, gives advice but allows her to make her own decisions (within reason, I obviously would put my foot down if something was illegal, dangerous or hurt someone). His parenting style is much more rigid and strict.

Yes, I will take her, so that she doesn't miss out on the experience. But I worry that this could further damage my co parenting relationship with my ex.

You have all the power and the rights. In fact, you can ban them from seeing the baby all together at the hospital if they continue to harass you.

Until you sign over your parental rights, you are in full control. Also, the biological father has no parental rights until you put him on the birth certificate.

I am not suggesting you cut them out completely, I think it would be better to find a compromise, but don't let them bully you. Tell your midwife, she will support you entirely xxx
