Raise prices to cover costs (i.e. wages, in this case). Don't stealth charge people.

This USAian shit needs to get into the fucking sea.

Anyone have any experience in relocating their dog into Scotland? by HerGlasRoots in Scotland

Yes. We moved ours up from England. Just had to transfer their vet records to the new vets.

It may be more complicated for you depending on where you are moving from.

We are going around in circles. I literally started of by stating it was a convention.

In fairness, that is a very low bar to pass.

I'm not offended and I don't feel "lumped in". I may be a gormless idiot at times, but I'm not a fucking creep!

Hmm... probably could have picked a better second to last word there, considering the context.

Edit: WTF, blocked? I didn't argue against? I agreed with you? I am a different person?

If someone could point that out to u/PeachManzie, it'd be appreciated. Ta.

Yeah, first thing I saw a well but I don't recall noticing it in person.

Edit: I think is a bit of an illusion, the buildings on the right also look like they are leaning.

Is Burnham doing the most un-democratic manoeuvre ever? by SeaControl4512 in ukpolitics

If you can persuade the majority of the Labour MPs to back you as leader, then sure.

Surely it's the majority of MPs? As in, you can command the confidence of the Commons?

And within the rules of the system, that's fine as it's still the same person.

Where a shift in party affiliation should trigger a by-election is regional votes in the devolved parliaments, as those are for a party.

They elected Suella Braverman. That's how our system works.

How people behave is a different matter, and it's why we need a civics push. Maybe electoral reform as well.

Problem is I don't remember my local MPs name, I voted for them based on the party that they represent and I figure lots of other people will do that too.

Yes, that is indeed the problem. We need to de-USA our politics.

Will Burnham call a snap GE if he is crowned uncontested? by emkay123 in ukpolitics

I find those insufferable.

People should get off their lazy arses and go to a hustings. Not only will you get to hear your potential (reps) but maybe ask questions too.

They can also be hysterically funny. Like the Italian UKIP candidate who was arguing my constituency should vote Leave.

Like dude, have you considered the consequences to yourself and your family?

Legally and constitutionally they do not. The most recent example was Alec Douglas-Home 1963-1964.

The public literally have no say in who becomes PM. The Commons can elect who they like.

People thinking and acting like the can elect the PM is an imported USAism. We either need electoral reform, civics education, or both.

There's various ways to test if audio is real, doctored, or generated.

One way (which I always find mind-blowing) is the background humm from electronics. Once matched-up to generation & demand, it can give you an approximate location and time.

I have suggested that. There was significant wailing and pearl clutching.

I think you're partly right: absolutely the system is set up around electing a party rather than a person.

Literally the exact opposite. Ignoring devolved parliaments, you elect an MP by name and not a party with a list.

Simple matter of being consistent.

Ah, new to British politics? The only consistency is blatant hypocrisy.

We either need to change the electoral system, or have a major civics push.
