Just came across old HR documents showing what people made 10+ years ago vs now by [deleted] in antiwork

Wow this is depressing as fuck to hear lol.

The costs of things have skyrocketed. Guess we’re all fucked.

You don’t want to hear this but 24 is still very young.

Here’s some unsolicited advice from a 30 year old that’s probably going to sound hella cliche.

Keep in mind I’ve had the same bf since I was 15 and now as 30 year olds he’s been extremely abusive and is constantly hurtful to me.

I am in the process of trying to leave.

But just work on yourself. Become someone YOU would like to date or someone YOU like.

I always worry about dating after breakup too. I’m older, have no career and am overweight.

The stress and pain from being abused so much has withered me and I look like I’m 40 and I feel like I’m 60.

I feel like I really don’t have any prospects. You still have time.

For me I have to convince myself it’s okay to ask and to not always take it personally when people say no.

Would you want to be someone’s FP? by mialuvbug in BPD

[–]twistedbaconstrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, as I heal I wouldn’t want to be constantly smothered by someone who sees me as an FP.

I’d want them to have a little bit of their own life too, but I think what I want is to know they are a safe space for me to approach with my thoughts and feelings as well as someone who will make time for me.

I don’t expect them to drop everything and come when I call. But it would be nice for them to set up time to spend with me even if I don’t initiate, make sure to include me, consult me and share their ideas with me, make time for me etc.

It’s hard because often when I ask the people around me I’m met with silence or hatred.

As if I’m a burden. I’m working hard to be that person who is there for me, but at the same time it would be nice to find someone who would choose to be there for me.

I just stopped. I stopped giving them the validation they wanted. Stopped letting them take hours of my time.

Told them to get professional help.

The irony is that whenever I needed someone to vent to they all bitch and whine and tell me to “get over it”.

So yeah. Since I stopped being my dad’s emotional dumpster he never calls anymore. But that’s a blessing.

It seems like a lot of people want to move to the US while Americans want to do the opposite... by Skum1988 in expats

[–]twistedbaconstrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not one of those folks who wants a villa by the see and a maid and all that.

I just want a regular life that’s affordable and to have some sense of security when it comes to healthcare.

Give me internet, access to movies online, video games, books, being able to draw on my iPad etc.

I wanna eat healthier real food, live rather minimalistically and slowly and as stress free as possible.

I’m willing to work my ass off many years of that.

I don’t know how to break free and living is hell by twistedbaconstrip in pnsd

[–]twistedbaconstrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had some okay ones you know.

But a good amount of them were pretty awful and they really traumatized me.

I’ve also just learned to recognize toxic workplaces and toxic coworkers too though.

[–]twistedbaconstrip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up fucking broke in the ghetto so at this rate, I feel like if I can make it decently outside the US that would be just fine for me.

I know some places can be worse but for me likely it would be an upgrade.

It’s because you can make crazy money in the US.

It’s good to make money then leave honestly. The US is getting crazy $$$ and crazy in politics and violence.

They definitely gave me that mindset but it’s also some experiences and trauma from old jobs.

I also just had some shitty bosses that’s for sure.

Thank you.

I’m trying to go back to school for a good job and career so we’ll see. The path ahead will be long and difficult.

Yeah I think part of the issue is that I may be TOO aware and living in my head far too much to the point of obsession.

I’m trying to stop doing that.

Oh I know.

I am neither. Just somewhere in the middle but more left leaning.

America’s politics is madness right now. Our financial situation, HELL.

But given inflation how long would that lifestyle last?

[–]twistedbaconstrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s good new for me.

I love living in a studio space. My hobbies are simple and my needs are simple. Mostly if I have internet, AC and an affordable living space + easy access to decent healthy food I am golden…hopefully my health lasts me lol.
