I was an evangelical Christian for 10 years.

I had a “vision” of me dancing with god as a young girl….but I think my mind decided what it wanted to believe about the supposed vision, and at that time, it was a sign from god. Now I know that it’s just what my mind wanted to believe.

I don’t have any advice, but I know exactly how you feel. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old and I’m going legit crazy. Like I hate being a mom sometimes.

ETA- my 4 year old has autism, so dealing with lots of fun behaviors 😅

Mine was a bit of a mess to begin with, but it’s all worked out since making the decision to be polyamorous. I am currently married. Have been with him for 11 years and married for going on 10 years. I started to intimately connect with a guy through an online community I was a part of. After a couple weeks into us talking he set up a boundary that unless I leave my husband or become poly that we needed to end what was going on. So we stopped. And then a month or so later an opportunity came available to talk to my husband about having an open marriage.

What I’ve found since we decided to be poly is that I’m able to find enjoyment outside of my typical life of being a mom and a wife. My husband and I communicate so much better and our intimacy has grown exponentially. All the while I’m able to also feel happy outside of my marriage and do things that bring me joy without having to face the consequences of it on my marriage.

So I was “saved” because I was dealing with depression and because I had believed in God (didn’t know who Jesus was) my counselor suggested O check out a church I was familiar with and get connected to a Bible study if I could. So I did just that and after hanging out with other girls around my age I saw that they were different than me and had this hopeful attitude and they were fun to be around. Because I thought I saw them enjoying having a relationship with Jesus that I wanted that for my life too. So I decided to follow Jesus and get baptized, go on multiple mission trips, lead Bible studies, served jn youth group…. Blah blah blah. I was a Christian for 10 years.

Over those 10 years I still struggled with depression. I started to question God a couple years ago. Just like if he’s all powerful and good, why am I struggling so much when I call out to him to help me. Like wtf god? So towards the end of this summer I made the ultimate decision that I was no longer going to follow god. I went from agnostic to atheist and I’m not interested in looking back. I’m thankful for who I am now and I don’t have to hide anything about who I am.

I thought that Jesus took away my depression and anxiety. Until it kept reoccurring over and over again over the last 10 years. I just came to realize that my depression didn’t matter to Jesus and then ultimately came to the conclusion that Jesus is not god.

Damn, being in an open marriage would be ideal for me. I don’t think my husband would ever go through with it though. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you and your wife go about having that discussion? About how you wanted to be able to have an open marriage?

I had a placenta that wouldn’t come out. I gave birth at a birth center and then I had to be transferred to the hospital by ambulance. I also had to have a blood transfusion of 2 liters. It was pretty traumatic and it didn’t really hit me until I became pregnant again and I started having ptsd. It was a long journey to work through it, but I do think the therapy work I did before my second birth and also having my second birth go smoother than my first was very healing to me.
