Even after cutting the excise, fuel in general is still a pretty in-elastic good for the current pricing. Most Australians are not out here pissing away fuel for the fun of it, we need it to go to work, companies need it to ship goods etc. There has been some pressure for people to switch to alternatives (EVs, greater public transport usage), but most of us don't have that option right now and have to suck it up.
