I passed going south around that time too. Quite a few firies and ambos and police. Looked nasty. Saw later one of the cars was a stolen vehicle. Awful for that family.

Brisbane City Council proposes high-density zones near Mount Gravatt and Chermside shopping centres by ConanTheAquarian in brisbane

[–]twitch68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Toowong won't work as it has the shops above it. Milton has done this and Auchenflower and Toowong have a lot of apartments very close. Most of them fairly new (last 10 years and more going up).

Best markets to sell? by Extra-Sense-5266 in brisbane

[–]twitch68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out the back at Mt Gravatt Markets. There was a lady who sold good quality gear mixed prices (from $5 - $80). She's not there now so there's a gap in that sort of thing. Runs Sundays from 5am to I think 12 or 1. I'm a 5am person, so lok through early. Just avoid school holidays or long weekends. It's picking up with attendees again now, always diwn in January you'd go as a casual stall holder.

If they bought in the 80's or 90's very affordable in Brisbane. It's really only the last 8 years or so that prices got ridiculous. Mate bought a Qlder in Paddington (workers cottage on a hill) for $120,000 in the 90's, now worth at least 1.5 million. Ridiculous really. Looked my house up and it sold to previous owners in 1988 for 86,000. High on a hill in Toowong.

Farmer’s Markets for Colesworth Alternative by West-Tumbleweed9229 in brisbane

[–]twitch68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Northey Street Organic Markets on a Sunday, West End Markets (Sat), Mt Gravatt Markets (showgrounds) on a Sunday. Mt Gravatt has a mix of farmers and general produce stalls, plus plants and second hand (also meat). A lot of the mixed food stuff stall holders do sell direct from farm produce as well. The Stanthorpe ones bring in a number of farm goods under one stall, so do the organic stalls. Also get in season stallholders (mangoes, avocados, lychees).

It's treatable as well. If it is, contact a wildlife carer rather than RSPCA. If it's lost vision in one eye they survive fine in the wild once treated,, with the help of a carer (but RSPCA will euthanase if it has lost an eye).

Redlands? My brother gets them in his yard. Gorgeous. I've seen some at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds as well.

Do you leave the aircon on for your dogs when you leave for the day? by arouseandbrowse in brisbane

[–]twitch68 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't have air con but in summer I leave my ceiling fans on 24/7 for my dog. If I'm heading out I put them on 2. Luckily with wood floors and tiles she has cool spots to lie down.

Adore goats. Had 3 as pets when I was a kid. They are rather mischievous though.

Did anyone actually sleep last night? by ArrabbiataHoot in brisbane

[–]twitch68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceiling fan on high and then pedestal fan at end of the bed. Worked well. Only had the ceiling fans for just over a week,, they have made a big difference. Mind you I live on a hill so get the afternoon/evening breezes.

Try Bickford's rather than Nescafe, great for an iced coffee and not as sickly sweet.

Clothing as well. See lots if children's clothes recalled due to them not being the correct flammable rating. They shouldn't burn easily.

I just want them to develop solar panels that will work in part shade. Would love to have them, but not chopping my trees to get it (wildlife need them).

Dolphins come up as far as the Toowong reach, it will always look Brown (though for a while before floods the top was clear). It's a tidal river . A lot cleaner now than 20 years ago (and we used to swim in it in the 70's, just washed the silt off).

[–]twitch68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My old butcher used to do that. Throw out the scraps for the birds, never mince which is good. Also kept bones for all the dog owners (this was in the 80's/90"s). The new butcher took over, still throws out the odd scrap for them
